Great time.
My son and I golfed for the 1st time together, and this was a great course to go with my son for the very first time anywhere.
We will be back
Thanks
Wide Fairways
This is one public course where you can whack and test your drives because of it's wide fairways. It's not easy to loose a ball here unless you get out of bounds in the holes beside the houses, which are not many.
Playing here on Sunday or any groupon day is what to avoid. They really stacked 4-some one on top of the other. The marshalls were trying to push everyone when they knew that the place was packed like a kids playground. It took us 5 hours to finish the 18. The longest i played this year.
Great Hot Deal on a Sunday
Looked for a decent course for the money and found it. Course was not too difficult, but challenging enough. Interesting south suburbs crowd at the course. Pace of play was good for a Sunday since I had read other reviews recently complaining about this. There was an outing going out after us though, so maybe later in the day it would have been bad.
Overbooked Tee Times and slow players make for very long day!
Arrived on time for our tee time. They were running 25 - 30 minutes behind. Play was very slow, we waited on every hole.
Almost 5 hours to finish, and two of our players are 3 handicap.
Frustrating, except for the beautiful weather.
Poor pace, poor upkeep.
The course staff did a miserable job on managing pace of play and regulating tee times. We were forced to tee off 30 minutes past our tee time and the staff decided to blame this on golfnow. We all know that courses have the option of how they structure their tee times, not golfnow. Not only did we tee off late but the round itself took just over 5 hours. With the 30 minute delay in starting and the horribly slow round, we ended up finishing more than five and a half hours after our tee time on a Thursday at noon. Outside of pace, the course needs some major water attention. The greens were as hard as concrete and my approach shots with a high trajectory sand wedge shot would bounce 15 feet into the air on contact with the green. I felt like I was at the British Open and needed to land shots short of the green to hold it. The weather this year has not been hot enough to justify the green conditions, dead rough all over the course, and sand traps that haven't seen attention since 2012 and it is August 2013.
Easy Course for After Work
We have a dry very dry month, but the greens were fast and in nice condition, the staff is extremely friendly. The starter even provided some advice on the greens and holes. The fariways were only in ok condition and the traps were poorly maintained. It is a nice course to play after work with friends. If you don't have high expectation the course is easy and stress free. Not a thinking man's course. Very nice staff.
As expected
I play here a few times per year, with a few senior friends. Weekend rounds can be slow. Starters are friendly and do a great job. Pro-Shop staff, for some reason are always just barely friendly and seem put out, to help you. That could be improved. The wait staff in the bar/restaurant are all wonderful.
Course is in good shape and the greens put true. The superintendent should be applauded.
one last comment....be careful on most holes for stray shots. This is a dangerous course.
Wide Open Course
Even though there were quite a few people there, my threesome went around in less than 3.5 hrs. Foursome in front of us even asked if we wanted to play through, but we told them they were moving fine. Pretty wide open course, without a lot of trees and trouble. Should be a good course for younger, newer players or for short hitters.
The course has a nice lay out and is enjoyable to play.
The course was great, staff was friendly and most importantly, I had a great time.
Condition of the course is moderate condition. May need a little work on the cart pathways.
The green are a little dry. The carpath needs a little work. But overall, the course is decent. I would not mind playing there again when im in the area. I enjoyed playing there.
Woodbine course
Great place to play for hot deal value.
Regular prices could be a little less to entice more
customers to the area.
Great Local Course
I've visited this course a handful of times. I enjoy golfing here as it gives me challenge, yet room to improve my game. On this particular day I was 20 minutes early for my tee time and the starter was trying to push me on ASAP, even when I said I wasn't ready and was waiting for another player to arrive. I would be ready for my reserved time, but I felt it was inappropriate to rush me just because I was there a little early. I hope this does not repeat on my next visit. I'm glad they are trying to encourage pace of play, but don't rush me to start before my time, especially since I didn't ask to start early.
Needs attention to details
Actual course is good. Difficult to find your way from one hole to the next because there are no signs. Cart paths are poor so they provide no clue. Tee boxes have no diagram of the hole and scorecards are zeroxed copies without course layout. Luckily had an iPhone in our group so we could look at each hole on the scorecard on their website.
well maintained but overbooked
The fairways are narrow and at one point we had people in our fairway from three separate holes. A bit overbooked as we had a 10 min wait on every hole. Maybe I am spoiled but this was slow.
Good scoring course
Not much trouble to be found off the tee, and with the good conditioning of fairways & greens, you can go low. Bunkers seem to be mostly dirt though, not sand. For the money, it was a worth playing.
Course has nice greens
For $48 I was expecting more for the money.
Sand traps have not been racked and the traps are as hard as a rock.
Great for our family foursome
At Golfnow's $19 per player, our family foursome, to include my 9 year old daughter and 8 year old son had a great time. Great course for the kids to finally play on a real golf course and swing away without fear of losing a bunch of balls.
Very nice local course that is well maintained.
Timely start, excellent greens and fairways. Sand traps need some work. Staff was very pleasant and welcoming. It's one of our favorites that is reasonably priced when looking for an early morning, weekday course.
Cheap, fast, and fun
Woodbine was in good shape, I was able to play for $15 through Golfnow, and the course was challenging without being punitive. Low-handicappers might find it a bit too easy, but for those of us in the 10-20 range it is nice.
Great value for the money
Course was in excellent condition. Lots of sand and water but not too difficult. I don't understand why they don't provide bottles with sand to fix divots. Play was pretty quick.
