Terrible customer service nice course
Checked in for 18 with cart. There was an outing in the morning so me and my buddy tee'd off on 10. As we went to hole 1 there was a league that was there waiting to tee off and they wouldn't let us golf. Went to pro shop and they tried to tell us we had to come back and play 9 holes another time. my buddy and I were livid as we live 45 minutes away and had to get child care to golf. We asked for a voucher for 18 with cart considering the inconvenience for me and my buddy. After arguing for 15 minutes they would still only offer me and my buddy 9 holes each. Course was nice.
Randall Oaks
Great course, well maintained.
Fun layout in great condition. Worth the drive!
Have never played here before and I will definitely be back. The layout is unique with a blend of wooded and links style holes.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Beverage cart came around frequently, was all smiles, and very respectful of play.
One of the most surprising and enjoyable factors came into play well before we hitting the ball off the tee; There were multiple ball washers at different tee boxes on every hole. Also, there were multiple garbage cans. As for the tee boxes themselves, they were all beautifully equipped with sand/seed mix, a tee disposal tin, and even a spike cleaning brush right there on the tee box! Most places just don't care to set up for that level of service and I thought it was excellent.
I didn't spend much time in the sand but it was clean and consistent when I found it. The greens were rolling true and were plenty challenging. I even embarrassingly managed a 4 putt - yes it can happen! Love the forced carries on certain holes!
I few issues with the course but did find that there was a bit too much goose stuff in certain areas. I'm blaming some of it for missing a birdie putt on the #1 handicap hole but that's my fault for not clearing my line. Secondly, I'm not a big fan of blind tee shots. There were at least three that I could think of. While they had GPS location for other carts, there were a couple of youth walkers in front of us and there were times when I was really concerned about making sure they were free and clear so one of us had to drive down or up the fairway to gain visual confirmation before teeing off. Would appreciate a bell or other method of notifying all clear to people on the tee. Better to be safe.
All in all it was a great experience and I'm really looking forward to returning. Great work Randall Oaks!
Great Layout & Condition
Played on July 4th weekend so green fee was a little pricey & play was slow, (But not brutal)...I get all that.
Never saw a ranger trying to speed up play..don't get that. Course is really a gem layout & condition wise. Plays a little easier than posted yardage & slope so don't be intimidated..I will definitely be back with buddies in tow..for a weekday round.
Great Course for the Money
From the minute I arrived the staff was unbeliebably friendly. That starter, Dave was great and you can tell really loves his job and takes pride in the course.
The course has some great looks especially on the front. The back is a little different, and had a few weird looks off the tee. The entire course was in perfect conditions and plays very true to what you see.
The fact I shot my low round of the year helps, but I will definitely play here again.
Great course conditions
Played early on a Thursday morning with no delays paired with 2 very friendly gentlemen. It was a rainy, foggy day a day after a heavy rainstorm. Course drains extremely well and overall conditions are terrific. Have to provide significant acclaim to the smooth rolling of the greens. Great practice area and fun layout with most holes unique in nature. (Bent tees, fairways, and greens.)
Excellent conditions - horrendous pace of play
Played on a Sunday morning (9:12 tee time) as a threesome. Course was in great shape, but the pace of play was terrible. Never addressed by staff.
Great Course, Slow Play
It's Sunday and its 75 degrees out. This is a busy golf day. I get it. But don't put a walking foursome in the middle of 4 foursomes. And no Marshall? The cart girl knew that they were playing slow. In the "red" as she viewed her GPS. Then to top it off I tried to pass these tortugas up at the turn and there was a wedding taking pictures on the tenth green for 15 minutes. I gave up and went home. A three hour 9 hole round. This is a great challenging course and for the money with the new cart technology it's great! But you guys have to keep pace going. I shouldn't have to check work email on every tee because I'm waiting that long.
Toms Threedome
Love the course.
Need to get a starter who has some enthusiasm, barely said hello!
Great course
Most excellent value and a very demanding course. We got around in the prescribed time with very little issues. The course was in excellent shape and the club house/grillas fully stocked and efficient. I've live here for 10 years and this is honestly the first time I played here as the price or tee time availability was restrictive.
I've already booked another through GN as the price was right and so is the tee time.
Definitely recommend this course as it is tough but fair. Play off the back tees only if you're a big hitter, and remember, if you hit a ball O/B, don't spend 10 minutes looking for it. You're holding everybody up and you're not going on tour any time soon.
The Gem in West Dundee
Tee time: 11:04 on a Saturday ($39). I found a new favorite. Randall Oaks is a very well manicured, beautiful looking course. The undulating greens and elevation changes make for a challenging play. The 560+ yard Par 5 #9 hole makes for a pristine finish to the front 9. Other bonuses include the GPS carts, great practice facilities, and great amenities. I was displeased with nothing. I plan to play here at least one more time this season... possibly more.
On my top 10
Very interesting and pretty course
Just enough of a challenge especially on the greens
Nice changes to layout
Had not played here in quite awhile and it was good to see all the improvements they have made.
Very enjoyable course
Really enjoyed this track. Rolling hills, fairly generous fairways, modest rough conditions, not heavily tree-lined and reasonably large greens with some undulation. Staff was very friendly. Good practice areas. A couple holes had blind 2nd shots (not a fan). Unfortunately, they recently aeriated and dressed the greens with sand. For the most part, the maintenance crew did a fine job with this, but it did make for somewhat slower greens. Once the greens fully recover, all systems are "go" for a fine golfing experience.
Pleasantly surprised
I haven't played Randall in probably 30 years. I was shocked at the course changes and layout. This is an excellent course now. New holes were well done. Greens had been perfed and sanded but I bet they will be excellent for the summer. This is not a course to miss will be back again.
Randall Oaks best value in Kane County
I originally didn't like them changing the original layout but now I see how great a job they did and how more challenging it is. I have been out there two times this month and cannot praise Mike Spruce and his ground crew enough. The course is always in great condition. The rest of the staff are very friendly. I did talk to a customer of mine who works for Mike and he told me how great it is to work there and it was like a big family.
Great Course
This course has the most challenging greens, meaning it in a good way. Recommend to everyone!
Short game
What can I say about their short game area? Not enough great things. Without a doubt the best in the area, you name the lie and you'll find it here to work on. Worth the 20min drive to work on the short game. The course? Fantastic. Have played it numerous times and it's always in impeccable shape, The front 9 is pretty standard as far as looks but the back nine has some quirky directions and looks but definitely more challenging. When it's windy good luck because it's tough but very fair if you're playing fro the right tees. The staff? They leave something to be desired. Very snobby especially considering the town it's located in. I try not to deal with them any more than I have to.
Extremely fast greens
As stated in title, the greens were probably 12 on stimp meter. Our groups only complaint is most pin placements were on inclines/declines. This happened after their redesign of the course a few years ago. They made too many undulations in greens. Other than that, great layout and I would highly recommend.
A complete facility
Well conditioned, moderately difficult course.Smooth greens can be very quick.Front nine more challenging than the back nine.Great pratice facility.with putting green, chipping green, plus two areas with par 3 holes.
