Great course.
Course was in great shape, club house staff was super nice (didn't judge me buying a beer at 9:30am). Challenging for any golfer.
The course is has a great layout.
The problem at this course is that it's too slow and when you have to follow a 5 some that 's just makes a long day.
Plus the fact that the course needs to have the grass cut because when you can not even find your ball when it's right in front you also makes a long day.
Nice Course
Great course for the price paid via golf now. Well maintained, decent pace of play. Be sure to bring your driver, because there are a few monster holes. The island Par 3 as always is the gem hole of the course.
A few hiccups starting off in spring.
I bought a bucket of balls to warm up before my round. they handed me a receipt with a code to punch into a ball machine, I entered the code but it didn't work. Luckily someone was there to manually fill a bucket. The person before me had the same problem. The range is nice, with grass hitting areas. The targets are actual greens with pins. There is a nice chipping/putting area as well. As I left, there were a group of people trying to get the machine to work.
We played the Island to Woodside courses, Wednesday afternoon. The fairways were lush and well manicured. I was surprised at how rough the greens and tee boxes looked. The tee boxes looked like they had an outing come through, big unfilled divots. I think that is easy enough to correct. The greens however, were not very green, sparse grass. They were sanded and rolled nice, but you were putting on a majority of sand. There were numerous sand filled ball marks. I'm not sure how they had so much traffic on the greens considering the golf season is just beginning. We had a group ahead and behind us, but we never waited. We finished our round in 3 hours and 20 minutes.
All in all, it was good deal through Golf Now and good value for the money. I would have been disappointed if I paid full price. That is probably why they were offering a discount.
Review
Great course. If you play there, try to play the Island Course.
Great bunkers, good conditon, greens could use a trim
Play this course a few times a year. Already in good condition but greens a little shaggy. Booked Highland to Woodland but they decided to change course rotation and and ended up playing Highland-Island.
Best Challenge of a Public Course in the west Suburbs
The practice facilities are superb from the Ddriving Range to the Practice Greens. The carts with Windshields and Raincovers for your clubs are a welcome addition. The Bent Grass Fairways & Green courses from the Highland to the Woodland to the Island give you all the challenge you want either as a Novice or a Pro. While the terrain is in a relatively flat plain, strategically placed traps, and rolling terraced Greens, test even the best. This is truly a HIDDEN GEM of golf courses in DuPage County.
New layout
Not bad for second round of the year. Weather was still cold and explain the furry greens. No rakes in sand traps on the highland side and range still not open yet.
The greens are alweays very somooth and fast.
The problem at Indian Lakes is that they allow 5 somes, and a lot of people are just too slow to do that and still maintain pace. Pace should never be more that 4 hours anyway.
winter golf in chicago
I played this course in january of a mild chicago winter. Considering the time of year, the course was in great condition. Greens were ok and fairways were well kept.
Lots of fairway bunkers to deal with off tee shots
Overall a good course especially with a golfnow.com discounted rate.
Windshields for electric carts
Course was in great shape for the time of year. Carts with windshields are absolutely necessary for Fall golf.
very good course
I love this course, close to home, staff is friendly, price is good
Good course @ discounted, Golnow rate.
Not bad for this time of year (Nov.). It's in good shape. It's close to home, but, without the deal, I don't know that I would pony up the normal greens fees. Normal fall rates are about $50, w/ normal rates being almost $80. = courses for less $.
greens need work / it is a resort course. Personnel was friendly.
Played week of Nov5th. 56 degrees out. Tee boxes on par 3s were chewed up ( probably has to do w/ the time of the year). A lot of divot marks on the greens ( don't understand why people can't repair divot marks). Usually play this course 2 -3 times per year.
Good Value
The course is nice. For fall golf and the deals to be had, well worth it for fall golf.
the course has some nice holes that are challenging yet fair.
the fairways are generous size,we played in very windy conditions( 20 maybe 30mph) making some of the already long par5's feel really long when it was in your face, but when at your back on some of the shorter holes it made them driveble.the sand traps some with deep faces were soft and very playable.the greens were in good shape and medium speed,so overall while being a little tough it was also fair and fun.definitly worth playing again and the deal we received on golfnow was the best bargain of the year.
what's it like during height of season
Perhaps it's because it's late October, but I thought the greens showed a lot of abuse. At premium pricing they charge during high season, I would complain.
Course managment is needed to shoot a low score
Great course and friendly staff. The layout is challenging
Nice Course
Have played this course a couple time this year and it is always in good condition.
Good value for the cost
Every time I play here, I find myself enjoying it more. You have to use every club in the bag, the green complexes are challenging but there are always several options for shots around the greens to get it close. There are a few forced carries off the tee but also enough room to not have to be perfect. My only issue is logistical - bag drop is in front of the clubhouse but where you park is far from where you check in.
