Friday hookie
Went and played with a buddy on a Friday, 50', cloudy, windy. Finished in 3 hr 15 min b/c there was only a few out there. Fairways were good, greens are fair. Discovered the short game area....this place has good practice facility.
Nice Track - Questionable Management Decisions
I played on a weekday afternoon as a single - was paired up with another single and told that we would be playing as a twosome. The starter put us behind a FIVESOME. We were stuck behind this fivesome for the entire 18 holes. Two more twosomes were put behind us. The pace of play wasn't awful (the fivesome moved along at a reasonable pace) - but we waited on every shot...
The course is nice and clean.
I am happy that we played this course very nice and clean and sfaff was very friendly. It is thumb up.
Fun course to play
I Played the third week of spring. The course was pretty clean for this time of year and the green were in remarkable shape even though thet had not been cut or rolled.
Good place for first round of the year...
For first bearable weather day after this long winter, it was a great day out and the course was in good shape.. there was snow in some bunkers but that was to be expected.
Far beyond my expectations for the first good day of the year.....
Great Course.. But............
everything is great about the course, except for one or two things.. 1st: they do not have any ball wash station at any of the holes I'd played... 2nd: they only had 1 restroom in the middle of the course. ohhh and 3rd: its not important but, there was no Logo balls when I was there and they said I'd have to wait until next year to get one.
Course has some 'fun' holes. Well maintained
I enjoyed the length of the course, as well as the layout.
Lot of water holes kind of close together
Not sure if they sent everyone off the highland nine but its slow moveing then they split you off on to woodland or island.Pace my better if sent you off on all nines.
Challenging, fair and very friendly staff!!! Cold beer and great food!
Our foursome plays a different course almost every Sunday from early Spring thru late Fall, and this was 'the most enjoyable round' of the season! The yardage is perfect #6450 or so for Island/Woodland#, but you get roll here, the bunkers are excellent #in spite of other reviews i've seen# as to consistency and they don't have impossible lips but gradual slopes. Even the Bratwurst I had after 9 was excellent #oddly someone said the same about the hot dogs#. The staff keeps a nice pace, but doesn't rush you! Four hours on a Sunday morning was Great! The greens are curvy, but smooth! The beer was cold and the price is very reasonable! What more can you want??? I've played here once a year for many years, and it gets better every time i play it!!! I need to play here more! Great resort too, i'm told, though i've never stayed there! / Gary-Wally-Jim-Gordon
Excellent Value - great course.
Excellent tee placement for both average and above ave golfers. Greens were great. VERY Enjoyable!
Good layout course needs more attention.
Good layout traps were a mess greens were slow.
I would not play this course again.
Very nice venue - LOTS of sand...
The course was in very good shape and maintained well for the most part. The traps were MANY and challenging. However, we played the morning after a substantial rain and the traps were not raked nor were they dry. Several had mini-lakes. Also, the edges of the traps could have been manicured better - a little rough. Not too many actual water holes on this course, but there are some...
Having said that, the fairways and greens were very well maintained, cut well and played well. Some very pretty holes and pretty wide open, but if drives go wayward, you can get in serious trouble rather quickly.
Carts ran well, were comfortable, and the on-board GPS was a nice asset. Using a paper scorecard when a GPS is on the cart seemed archaic to me. We should be scoring on the GPS system as well, but I don't think this feature was available - at least we couldn't find it.
The staff was friendly and courteous. Beverage service on the course was outstanding. Hot dogs at the turn were great (crazy, huh?).
It's been a long time since we played this course. We will play here again.
Pretty Good course
I played this course on Labor Day Monday. I thought it would be a super slow round, but we maintained a decent pace considering it was back to back foursomes. We were able to to get around in four and a half hours. I prefer to play faster, but considering the circumstances, it wasn't bad. As for the course itself, it is kept up well, and the greens were in good shape despite the fact that there is always that segment that doesn't like to repair their ball marks. The staff is where this course has an opportunity. When I checked in, the guy at the counter said as few words to me as he had to, and the starter was the same way. Also, there was a certain lack of basic etiquette that was lacking with both the starter and the woman driving the beverage cart. The starter was telling us to tee off when the group in front of us was well within our hitting distance. These were minor things that didn't affect the overall experience. I would recommend this course to someone who hasn't played it.
Nice course, well kept.
Nice, well maintained course and amenities. Overall it was an enjoyable round. We also teed off around 12:30 on a Friday, and finished in about 3 hours and 15 minutes. I'd pay a lot of money too guarantee that kind of pace.
The only criticisms I had were: 1) some of the bunkers were hard packed and/or wet (despite no rain in the previous few days) and likely needed more sand. 2) Holes #1 and #2 on the Island course have houses hugging the entire left side, very much in hook/slice territory, way too close for my comfort.
NIce Course,
Redesign didn''t solve the one big problem they have, houses are to close to the edges of the course and clearly they get hit a lot, there are signs all over the place about respecting the neighbors and all that. Greens are slower, what I would call resort speed, and it was hot yesterday so when they wet down the greens, the bunkers around the greens which are numerous were wet as well which made them very difficult. I will play there again, But it is not my favorite.
Back to Where I Started
This was the very 1st golf course I ever played 18-holes way back in 1986 in my company golf outing. I was so young back then I did not appreciate this game nor the course.
But now that golf "got me", I appreciate the beauty of this courses layout.
Very fun to choose from variety of 4 tee boxes. Gold, blue, white & red. Where red is shortest and gold is longest. A golf course for all levels.
The constant maintenance of greens and fairways were evident as we played front and back 9's as we see the gardeners and workers around the course on a Tuesday afternoon.
All the par 3's are challenging and deceiving because it gives an illusion of farther distance. The wide GPS screen really helps with the distance. Bring an extra ball for the Island's 8th hole...tempting but fun!
Great features and good pace of play
We enjoyed the course very much, particularly the island course. The pace of play was particularly good--3 1/2 hours on a Sunday afternoon! It was definitely a good value thru Golf Now and we would play there again. The course was in good condition and challenging enough for good golfers.
Nice layout
Nice course. One complaint is that no one seems to repair ball marks on the greens!
