White Deer Run Golf Course
About
Situated on the Cuneo Estate in Vernon Hills, White Deer Run Golf Club has a beautiful landscape dotted with sparkling lakes. The rolling terrain provides plenty of elevation changes, meaning there are some uneven lies and the occasional blind shot in store for you. There are not many trees but numerous bunkers lurk beside the greens and, of course, water is a pretty prominent presence throughout the golf course. Due to the plentiful and strategically placed hazards, the course puts a premium on accuracy. The layout is challenging but fair and it is also player friendly enough for beginners, offering ample room off of the tees. White Deer Run Golf Club's design contributes greatly to the course's playability, but that is also partly due to the immaculately manicured fairways and fast, well conditioned greens.

Quality Layout
Upscale well conditioned course.
Tough. But with course management you'll traverse w/o too many penalties.
Pro shop and starter were sympathetic to single who could get caught in the mix.
Big storm rapidly passed and we were out as soon as it was safe.
Paid $43 with Hot Deal. Great price. I wouldn't pay anything near rack rate though. Price wise, they're unrealistic.
I'll return with similar deal.
Very Nice
Great track with interesting holes. Worth it to go and give it a shot.
Nice public course, but not at the full rate
Fairways were in really good condition. Bunkers were basically packed dirt with a lot of rocks, no real sand. Rough off the fairway wasn't too bad and about average. Rough around the green was excessive in certain spots and extremely thick/high which made off the green shots challenging. Greens were extremely soft and not in great shape, maybe because it's a public facility but i only play public courses and i've seen a lot better for a lot less money. All in all it's a nice play to play but only at a discounted rate off a discount golf site, i would never play at full rate there are other places that have a better value.
Great Condistions
Overall great course, Greens were excellent, true and fast, but not ridiculous fast. Great conditions all around. A couple quirky holes (split fairways, hard dog legs) which makes it interesting. Only down side was we only saw the beverage cart once.
Great twilight opportnity...
Great twiligt opportunity! Course is in very good condition!
White Deer Run review
This is the 2nd upscale course (Ruffled Feathers) that I have played in the last week and once again this course is not worth the regular green fees that they charge, but well worth what I paid on Golf Now.
The course was in very good condition with the exception of the sand traps which could have used more sand. There was no consistency with the traps. The slope rating in my opinion was way to high (135 from the regular tees). the layout is really good though.
Back in Shape
Our first visit this spring to white Deer Run was a disappointment, course was not nice after a tough brutal winter. Glad to report course is in pretty good shape, had a great time as usual! Will be back often!
wow. how times have changed!
I used to play here in early 2000's. Place was magnificent then. Prices then started to go up and it got too $$$. Just went back due to a a great rate on golf now and played thurs. WOW have things changed for the worse. Bunkers are like municipal courses. Greens are beat up. Its not worth it anymore. so many other choices at better prices. Sad to Report!!!!
Very nice challenging course
Beginners take heed -- this course is not for the faint of heart. Definitely recommend <25 handicap.
I've played this course a few times. I've seen it in better condition (the first two or 3 greens are not in amazing shape, couple of dead spots in the fairway), but overall this is a well-manicured course. The staff are friendly and the food inside is decent. My biggest recommendation is to look for deals on GolfNow before deciding to play. Playing here for $89 (the weekend rate) has average value -- playing here for $60 (like I did today) has great value.
Good Course
Course was fair (besides the bunker) and greens were a little slow but otherwise great conditions. Carts with GPS are incredibly helpful and there was no one out there at noon on a Tuesday.
Monday getaway
Course was in really nice shape. Greens were receptive and rolled nicely. The rain had really helped this course.
Great course
For many years, I have been wanting to play this course. I wish I would have done it sooner. It is the right mix of challenging and easy holes.
The fairways and greens are well taken care of. The gps in the carts is really awesome. It was a delight to play, and I look forward to my next round there!!
We did not get anything to eat this time. Maybe on the next visit.
alex
great course, wide fairways looks easy but very challenging
fast greens
Beautiful Golf Course
Friendly Staff, very courteous and helpful. Course is beautiful and challenging to play.
Swamp!
I booked on Golf Now, I was with another friend. They paired us up with a twosome of women ( not a problem with me) then sent us to start on the tenth hole. Then told us cart path only. This is a very wide course and that was a problem. The course was also completely saturated! The entire course must have just been fertilized and then soaked by the sprinklers. I noticed the white t box markers were dyed green. They never told us any of this until I paid. The fairways and even the rough was like a swamp.
awesome
Great course. Always love playing here. Choose is always in great condition
Great outing
The weather was ideal, the course was in good condition with the exception of some rough and badly blemished greens. Still a fun time.
Welll maintained course, very enjoyable round
Course is in very good condition. Lots of geese on the course so watch your step. Very challenging track. Very challenging track. If you're not a legit 18 or below who can drive it 230+, play the whites or shorter.
It's okay, if you don't mind looking at houses all day
The first 8 holes are pretty bland, with kind of a Florida, condo golf, feel. The 9th plays around a lake with large trees present, totally different than the other holes. The back is a bit better, with water in play on a number of holes. 18 is back by the lake, which is a pretty and challenging finish. There was potential here, but so many houses on the course ruins the atmosphere. The greens had also been recently aerified and were very bumpy and slow, which is unheard of for late May. It might have been nice for the course to mention that when the tee time was booked.
