Roughs
Roughs definitely need a trimming, long par 4's are just too challenging for the mid handicapper. Greens were great. Course just needs a good haircut! Staff was fantastic, so friendly and helpful. Fairways have been narrowed since the last time I played here with the cuts of grass.
Great Value
If you don't mind walking then ingersoll is a good value for the money. The layout is decent for walking as well. The staff could use a few lessons in customer service and the greens need some tending to. It's also a nice course for new golfers.
Best value!
This is a regular course for me. The experienced golfer will have a lot of fun playing here with a straight forward course layout. There are many holes you can just open up on the drive yet also other holes with tight fairways. Greens during the summer are awesome! The park district does a good job maintaining it. For the twilight rates you really can't beat the value here it's an easy enough course yet will challenge you enough that you can enjoy the round. Side notes: pace of play needs to improve but that's public golf, there are no bodies of water on the course (not a complaint merely observation), fun driveable par 4s, short par 5s, finishing 3 holes are favorite holes of the course!
One of the better Municipal courses in Rickford
Nice layout for park district course that has a handful of doglegs. I like that they keep the fairways cut real low since its not bent grass fairways. Long par 3's and lots of tall mature trees that make it challenging. Greens are firm so you want run your ball up on the green. Best course in town to walk since tee boxes are close.
Tough Greens
$10 for 18 holes awesome course.
Good Course for the money
Rockford park district does a good job of maintaining their courses. This is no exception. Easy to walk 18 holes as the greens are right next to the tees for the next hole. Typical older (1920's) course. $18 for 18 holes is a bargain.
unwelcoming
I have played 3 time at this course. Benny was very unwelcoming. It was around 5 one day and a staff member wanted the cart back. there was enough light to finish our round.
I came with a pass for 18 holes and a cart and Benny would not give me a cart. It was the middle of the afternoon!
I understand the "Rockford good ole boys network" maybe that's why rounds are down in the city courses. HIRE FRIENDLY STAFF LIKE AT Sandy Hollow and Sinissippi.
You have to be straight
The front has a lot of mature trees and you have to be straight or your shipping/punching your second shot.
Fall golf
It was fall golf. Down leaves at times made it hard to find golf balls. The course was running lawn mowers to aleviate the problem. Otherwise the course was in very good late fall condition.
Ingersoll Golf Course
Course was in excellent condition and the pace of play was perfect, wish I had played better
best value in Rockford
I love this course...played a couple times this summer already...probably hit their again a couple more before the season ends...
