Fairways are a little choppy
Fairways are a little choppy and beat up but the overall challenge of the course is very challenging. A must during a round of gold
Good to Go!
This course was well prepared last fall for this
golf season: the fairways are clean and crisp, the greens roll true and the traps are in great shape starting our areas beginning 2014 golf season.
Best "Hot deal" value ever!!!
Course is situated in upscaled community with incredible views...appears to be recently constructed? Although some of the sand bunkers retained lots of water, overall drainage was adequate throughout the course. I definitely found a challenge playing here and what a great course for the price. Staff was "superb"
Great course to work your irons !!
Overall course is well maintained .. Rough is rough second cut is that .. And the fairways and greens are like hitting from carpet ... Tee boxes are very well maintained ... Felt that they needed a pic of the holes on the score card for a better idea of play for the first time player but all in all will definitely play here again !! Ty for the opportunity to experience such a wonderful course at a phenomenal price !! Bivs
Great Course that forces good aim and club selection
I had stayed away from this course the previous two seasons due to the bad reviews regarding course condition. Having seen an uptick in positive reviews some friends and I decided to give it a whirl, what with it only being $25 on golfnow, and what a pleasant surprise!
Well maintained, nice greens, with lots of undulation. Have to be smart, which is difficult with my TinCup mentality, and really forces you to play honest golf.
Seems like it s always $30> so we plan on making this a regular in the rotation from now on!
Skinny Fairways and Fun Layout
Stonebridge has a bunch of holes with skinny fairways. I enjoy the challenge.
Not a long course, but accuracy is key.
Will be a regular stop for me if they keep the pricing like they had it last fall.
Good mjx of challenges and elevations
always ljke playing at Stonebridge, it keeps me on my toes
Course in good condition and fun to play
We were late for our tee time and they still accommodated us for our tee off. Course in great shape and not crowded at the time we played (1:00 pm).
Recommend only at cheapest prices
Paid $15 w/cart. Would play again for practice at that price. Positives - nice layout with undulating fairways, elevation changes, and its not a "hit driver on every hole" layout. The fairways are normal but hard to find a flat lie; the greens are spongy and slow, but not bumpy. Course wasn't crowded. Negatives - bunkers had standing water, a few were missing rakes, greens were really slow, rough was inconsistent with patchiness; course had areas of standing water and lot of mushy areas; tee boxes needed cutting; course only 6000 yds from tips; we played a 412 yd par 5 and a 560 yd par 5
soaked
The negative is that the course was soaked even though there had not been any rain. Your feet squished walking in the tee boxes and fairways. The positive is that the course wasn't busy. Had never played here, so numerous times had to drive forward, to see where to try to hit, to get in scoring position. If you enjoy a challenge of a day of target golf, this is the place.
Worth a play
The staff was friendly enough though not overly enthusiastic. He took the money and answered our questions politely. The course conditions were mixed. The fairways were generally good and lush with only a few bad areas. The greens were in outstanding shape and while large and difficult, rolled very true and medium speed.
The main problem with course condition was that it was too wet and soggy throughout the course. I understand they want to keep the course green, and it has not rained recently, but they over watered in lots of places, leaving bunkers filled with water (#16), sloppy tees (#3 comes to mind), and increasing the humidity throughout the course.
Our only other complaint on an otherwise fun and playable course involved pin locations. I'm not sure if they had a scramble or what, but some of the pins were insane. #3 again comes to mind, but the pins on #7, #8, #12, #13, #14, and #15 were very close to edges near trouble. Not a good general layout of pins for a weekend round.
If you enjoy "target" golf, you will probably like this course
Much of this course is in what I consider above-average condition, but there are exceptions in some places, particularly a number of tee boxes. In addition to that, I've played this course twice in the last three weeks, and both times it was wet/soggy in many places, including some tee boxes - not from rain, but from some pretty extreme watering by the ground crew. We asked if perhaps they were trying to keep the water levels down in their lakes (the source of their water) but the guy tending the pro shop didn't know.
Since it's basically a target-golf layout, that doesn't matter as much as it might at courses that rely on drives and other shots "rolling out" for adequate distance. There are some holes where the soft fairways do reduce distance off the tee, but not as many as I would expect at other courses.
All that may read more negatively than the reality, so let me be clear - in my opinion the course is definitely worth playing for the prices that can be found on Golf Now!
...assuming you enjoy a target-golf layout. I reduced my rating from Good to Average because I know not everyone enjoys hitting less than driver off most tees - and you will be hitting your 185- or 200-yard club from the tee on many of the par 4s and at least 2 of the 3 par 5s (probably all three the first time you play it).
While the yardage might seem a tad short (5,555 from the blues) the long-ish iron shots many golfers will be hitting into most of the par 4 greens will make it "play" as if it were a much longer course.
This course has great ptential to be real good
Sand traps were all flooded, no drainage?
The greens had not been cut short?
The scorecard yardage was all wrong, confusing?
No standard yardage markers on most holes
We got lost going from 15 to 16, no signage?
No hole layout on scorecard.
Cart was dirty, ball club washer half full
Attention to detail is missing when it comes to the golfer
Good course, great value.
Played there 8/1/2013, course was in good condition, the back is tough, don't even think about walking it. Greens were in good shape, full of breaks. Play it safe or lose a ton of balls.
Short but challenging
The course was in very good shape. This was our first visit; there are several holes that require a drive by to see where you needs to hit. That makes it a little more challenging, because well placed is much more important than length. But a fun and challenging round.
Poorly maintained.
This course has a decent enough layout but the tees, greens and fairways are in poor condition. The grass is spotty, and the rough is more weeds than grass. The greens had major issues. I really like the design of the holes but it was sad to see such potential wasted. We paid just $10 each for the Hot Tee deal. I guess you get what you pay for;)
This course is tight but fun...definately a short game changer.
Fun course for the price. Fairways can be narrow and will challenge your short game. Again, good course to practice you short game but you must keep it in the fairways or trouble awaits.
lots of elevation changes, well maintained, fun course
I enjoyed the course, tee boxes and greens are in good shape except for unconsiderate people who refuse to repair their ball marks(but that happens on all courses). The fair ways well cut, with many elevation changes.
