Ruffled Feathers Golf Club
About
Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont is conveniently situated just a half hour outside downtown Chicago. Pete Dye and his son P.B. collaborated to design the course, making it the only Dye design in the Chicago area. A well thought-out strategy will be greatly rewarded on this challenging layout and bad shots made without any thought will be severely punished. This is definitely not a golf course where you can just grip it and rip it. The fairways are fairly straight and forgiving, but most of the approach shots play to tricky elevated greens. There are also strategically placed bunkers framing the greens and water hazards come into play on several holes as well. Ruffled Feathers Golf Club's par 3s have a reputation for being particularly challenging. But depending on how windy it is, the final hole might present the most formidable challenge.

Not worth the hype.
Only One cart girl today which we haven’t seen and we’re on our replay of 18 already! The restaurant at the clubhouse isn’t open and the grill at the turn at 11am didn’t even have any hot food available. The bartender at the turn is a retired teacher and the mom of an employee at the pro shop. She has no clue how to make any cocktails. If you miss a fairway you’ll be hunting for your ball forever and forced to drop. I’ve never lost so many balls on a course before. Not worth $115 a round. Very disappointed with my first experience here at a top 20 rated course
Where is the ranger??
5 hour round for a twosome is BRUTAL, especially when starting at 0745 AM...The rangers need to get on the ball and move people along.
Course was rough
Course was in rough shape. Grass was long off the fairway and decent shots were lost in the grass. Didn’t see a cart girl until approximately the 7th hole and restaurant was closed.
HIghly Recommend
See my other reviews below of RF. Other than some slow play and sand traps that have needed rehab for years we had a very nice day. Every employee you interact with have a great attitude and they want you to have a good time. Greens were micro punched and sanded on Friday 5/13. They are recovering nicely - balls are rolling very very smoothly - hardly noticed it after a few holes.. RF always provides good shot values and fun putting Play it you won't be disappointed..
Major upgrade
Pro shop staff is well trained, personable and friendly.
Facilities look amazing. Locker room and the bathroom at the turn have been upgraded and look fantastic.
Course seems to be ahead of schedule and work has been done to the bunkers. The bbq pit is producing some amazing food and the Jew outdoor furniture is a great look.
The entire facility is dialed in for a great season.
Repair your ball marks and a couple of others or don’t complain about them. Be part of the solution not the problem
Ruffled feathers
Very kind and considerate staff. Great attitude by all. Overall considering the weather course was a pretty decent shape
Never get bored playing this track
The Men's locker room and the bathrooms have been remodeled - that was really needed and was a nice/welcome surprise. All of the employees (proshop, starter, beverage gal & grounds maintenance) went out of their way to make sure we had a wonderful experience. Almost like I don't want to tell anyone how in the last few years Feathers has continued to show continued improvement in all areas. The Feathers aren't so ruffled anymore. Recommended.
Great Day
We caught a window with openings and finished in 4 hours. Will play again
Sad this is the only Pete Dye course in Illinois
Unfortunately the rate of play here is always terrible, the rang is nothing but sand. The greens are not well kept...and the clubhouse staff are not helpful...especially the manager, seems like she is always upset to be there.
Ruffled Feathers golf
The quality of this course has gone down significantly. I love the layout of the golf course for its challenge and target golf. It is fall season and none of the leaves were removed from the golf course. The Geese dung is everywhere.
Need to get this course back to its original beauty.
Speed of play is ridiculously slow. Get the rangers out.
Last but not least, I LOVE the Layout.
The director of golf, who I met after play that day, is a great guy and wants the best experience for the golfer.
6+ hour round
We got out on a Friday afternoon at 1:30 and the round took about 6 1/2 hours to play and were unable to play 18 due to sunlight. There were multiple two sums playing alone slowing down rate of play. Course maintenance was taking place during the day in the middle of fairways the “sand” is sprinkled over what seems to be concrete.
Not what we were hoping or expecting for premier public course. Very let down. Will not be back anytime soon.
Course just isnt in good shape.
Must be hard to get mowers, landscrapers, etc. All the rough needed mowing, virtually everything else needed weed wacking, etc. Tees need some work. I must have fixed 6 ball marks on every green. The course could be great, just needs some maintanence.
