One Of The Best Tracks In The Suburbs
I have not been to this golf course in approximately 4 to 5 years but it is absolutely better than I can ever remember it. It definitely has its challenges & it is so well worth going there at least once. I love the layout as well as its design. Just a great great course to play at. I always favor links courses with various elevations. This one definitely delivers the goods.
Best Links Course in the Area
As much as I'd like to give this course a bad review to keep people away I can't... The course was absolutely amazing... Great shape... Challenging layout... Best course played in Elgin ever!
Solid Course
Challenging course at a decent price. Highly recommend.
Great course in perfect shape
The course is in extremely good shape. It is one of the nicest link-style courses in the Chicago area. The rangers need to do a better job. The entire back nine was backed up due to a threesome that was two holes behind. Also I asked for a cup of ice and water and the lady in the snack shop said she isn't allowed. Really? Come on mgmt. This is the only course that I have ever been to where I couldn't get a cup of water.
Great Golf Course
This was my first time at The Highlands but it won't be my last. The course is tough but fair if you play from the correct tees. It is in wonderful condition and the greens are fast for a public course. The staff and overall amenities made it feel like a private club. Plus, we got a great "Hot Deals" price. Can't wait to go back.
Great course, beware golf now Hot times
it was 45 degrees and raining and 25mph winds and would not offer a rain check or refund.
A good challenge
A great course. Challenging for me but I did well so enjoyed it
Awesome course and views
I love this course because of the views the course gives. This is one of most scenic and beautiful courses in the North West suburbs. It is well maintained and challenging course too.
A bit of Links
while not completely a links course there is enough of that feel to satisfy. It has been in good shape every time I played it. Other than pairing a smoker with me the day was great
A great challenge for all levels!
This course is a beauty, but very tough, especially if you are wild off the tee. You'll be severely tested the entire day, with tough shots everywhere. Lots of elevation changes and rolling hills. Traps everywhere, and all in great shape. Best of all of this is the staff in the front office. One of the nicest people you can meet, and was very accommodating in helping me with my handicap. If you are a handicap golfer, they can help you. I'll be back, and will not bother driving to Prairie Landing, since this course is better.
Great track
Excellent conditions. Course well maintained. Great greens.
Very solid course. Little overpriced
The course itself is very nice. Not too challenging but a course that makes you put the ball in play to score well. The course was in very good shape. Just a couple of holes had some ground under repair but nothing that really came into play. Greens were pretty fast and many chip shots from around the green will run out if not played correctly. The only gripe I would have is the cost. Although a very nice course $70 is a little too high for this to be a regular stop for me. For what it is I feel like it should be around $10-$15 cheaper. Definitely recommend this course and will be back a couple more times this summer.
Excellent Facility
Course was in great shape. Pace of play was moderate but sure it was due to course difficulty. Great variety of holes. Worth playing, what I think is one of the better courses in the area.
A Solid Value and a Challenging Track
The Highlands of Elgin is a good value for the golfer's dollar. It is also plenty challenging with a variety of tee options. We played on a slow spring weekday and easily made our way around in under 4:00. The course conditions were good spring and the greens were rolling fairly fast and true.
We had a great time
We paid $33 per person and that is a great bargin for such a high quality course. Layout is challenging and playing smart golf gets you within the 150 marketer for your approach shot.
Clubhouse and staff were exceptional, good selection of draft beers.
Me and my guys will be back very soon.
Golfer from Barrington
nice course good layout
great course for the average golfer, fairways and greens have some ungulation but nothing severe.
good practice and putting areas. the bar has a great selection of burbon and good food for after the round.
Links
Nice links style layout. I really liked the practice facilities. Driving Range and chipping areas were very nice. The greens were very nice and rolled true. The Bunkers were all in good shape with new sand. I would like to play it again during the summer.
Excellent Layout
Greens were not in best if shape: Limited food and beverage, probably since it was a Monday in late October. Rest of course in excellent shape.
This is an interesting golf course.
This is a very interesting course in a links style set around an old quarry pit that I played for the first time. There are many sand traps, but fairly placed. There are also many blind shots which adds to the difficulty especially not knowing the course. With a wide range of tee boxes and yardages, there are options available for all skill levels. I plan to play this course again.
Wind UP
Played here 2 weeks ago and today it was 20+ winds. Made the course play differently, much more difficult. Nice layout and challenge. You will enjoy it.
