I love this course!
great value for the money; scenic panoramas, good tee box choices
Fun course. - A must play
This course has it's scenic moments throughout. The conditions are very well maintaned, with a very friendly staff.
The course has it's challenging moments, but overall a medium level course on difficulty if played from the fairways. The rough can be pretty tough with the tall thick grass, so be sure to club up.
Fun track
Layout of course is challenging. Wind is always a factor on these links. You really have to think your way around this course and be patient.
Solid course for the money
Course was in great shape, greens especially were in good condition (several courses in the area had their greens negatively impacted by the harsh winter). Highland of Elgin is one of the courses in my regular rotation, always a challenging but fair golf course!!
great links dtyle course
First time on the course- worth the drive(with Golfnow discount) from Grayslake. Nice and challenging layout-big greens and plenty of traps. Very much worth playing.
Good deal
Anything under $50 is a good deal for this course. Worth the trip out to Elgin to play.
Not up to regular standard
As we saved money thru golf now. It still was $59. Course was somewhat empty. They burnt a lot of brush, fairways good greens just ok. It's usually one of my top 3 courses but will have to wait a month or so
Bar dinning was closed due to a party. A relaxing drink and dinner would have been nice. Be awhile to we go back
Great course
The wind made it for a longer than normal day. Fairways are wide open which makes it nice. 1st time playing it since the renovations been done to the course. Overall a great course. will be playing it more this year.
Windy
It's a links style course so prepare for the wind. Staff was friendly pace was good and course was in great early spring condition.
great golf
this is one of my favorite courses in in Illinoisit has many challenges great fairway and usually fast greens.overall if you haven't played it you should
Diamond in the Rough
The only bad part about playing this course was the fact that it was late October. Very impressed by everything. Definitely a challenge, but not a bad time for a high handicapper. Will definitely become a part of my regular rotation.
Great variety of hole designs
Nice design puts a premium on shot placement off tee. Par 3's are tough demanding well played tee shots. Great GPS. New nine adds a lot and eliminates the Spartan 9 across street.
When Conditions Permit
This course is challenging. There are quite a few shots where you are having to clear over water or over a crevice. For a links course there aren't nearly as many traps as say Mistwood or Harborside, but they are strategically placed. I've come to the conclusion that the best time to play this course is early spring and towards the end of the season due to favorable course conditions. This course has tendency to dry out during summer creating unfavorable conditions and proving to be unbearably hot. I played recently and greens were in best shape I've seen them and the course is lush. Highly recommend playing this course right now.
Great layout and a good challenge for the average golfer
We played a twilight round and the greens were a bit beat up due to all of the previous play but overall the course was in excellent condition.
This course is one of the best I've played in the Chicago-Land area.
It's a must play.
One of the best courses in the area, HANDS DOWN!!!
The Highlands of Elgin is one of my favorite courses to play ever! Standing at the club house and looking out you can see the flag sticks of a dozen or so holes. That being said the course plays long and has lots of hazards to keep you honest. My only complaint about the course is it does cost a little more than some of the other courses in the area I play. Hope you enjoy the course as much as I did!!
High Views
The course started great but avoid slicing cuz you might hit some cars on road to the right.
So many scenic views from tee box.
One hole we were looking down at the greens from real high elevation. T'was breathtaking.
Not a bad course at all even after it's been raining the days before.
Will try to play here again.
Great course
I had heard great things about this course, and it didn't disappoint. This is like an oasis in the middle of Elgin. The course is very beautiful and well maintained. It is pricey, but worth a play to at least try it, you will love it.
Great Course
Can't say enough about this course. Absolutely fantastic experience. For the first time in ages, I lost 5 balls. Very demanding
Highlands of Elgin excellent challenge from Gold tees
Very interesting and challenging course. Many risk/reward driving holes. Green conditions could have been better - bumpy.
