First Time Round
First time playing here. Very good pace of play. Nice greens. The rough needed to be cut, a lot of dandelions. Tee boxes are rough, was the worst part of the course. We enjoyed playing here and will come back to play again.
Solid course, needs to be maintained better
I played this past Saturday and the fairways were nicely manicured, but the rough was brutal. Ankle high grass and billions of dandelions. For $50/round, and that’s a cheaper round at this specific course, it could be taken care of better. It’s a regular course for me and I’ll be back, but I was slightly disappointed.
Good day at Hughes Creek
Course not manicured very well, rough and fairways blended together, dandelions all over mixed with a lot of clover...this has been an issue for last year and this year so far. this course is well laid out with challenges for everyone...course condition needs lots of improvement compared to other courses in the western Fox River area. We would play this course again with the hopes that the condition would improve.
Playing in March in Illinois
This is not a fair time to rate a course...mid March in Illinois..however 70 degree weather tempted us and we were not disappointed...the course is not ready for prime time due to the time of year but we were pleasantly surprised...pretty dry in most places but no roll on ball due to spongy ground...felt really good to be out after a long winter...in season this is a great course. We look forward to going back once the course is in condition
Taking the money
This used to be a fun course because of the quirky layout, changes in elevation, and decent course conditions. In the golf boom over the last 3 years courses have had a lot of cash coming in to upgrade their course and infrastructure. Not this course. All the cart paths are crumbled asphalt. The tee markers haven't been moved in weeks leaving dry pockmarked divots. I understand it's been a dry summer but this course was like playing on concrete. Do they not have an irrigation system? There are many other courses in the area. I'll play somewhere else next time.
Unable to play
My partner just got his vaccination booster for Covid 19 and suffered some side effects. As such he couldn't play and a distance of 40 miles for me prompted me to eat the loss, given the fact that we were within the 24 hour cancellation period. Pity!
Overall disappointing
I’ve been playing Hughes Creek for years and ever since new management took over, I swear they mow the fairways and rough every two weeks. The last 3 rounds I’ve played there, there are some holes that you cannot even tell where the fairway begins and ends, as well as up the sides. I don’t know if it’s because they’re short staffed, but to pay near $60 and not get a nice tight lie when you’re in the fairway off the tee or another shot is a bit ridiculous. I’ll keep playing here because it’s near my house, but overall the grass needs better keeping. The greens are usually in nice condition and the course layout is pretty fun. 6/10.
highes creek
great course, in good shape. it rained all morning so they tried to pack too many paople in later, around our tee time. the fairways were as long as the rough in places. but it was nice, and we had a good time.
Nice course with unique features
This isn’t the first time we’ve played Hughes, but it provides a significant challenge on the long par 4’s and a short par 4 by way of a creek. We generally play fast and today didn’t disappoint despite numerous rain events during the round. We ended up finishing in around 3 hours and 35 minutes.
It was a nice way to get the weekend started.
Nice course for the money
The staff was very friendly, pace of play was fine played in 4 hrs greens rolled true
