Always a great golf course
Cart paths are newly paved. Still doing restoration but does not affect play on this awesome public course. Greens are rolling true.
Great public course
It's been a while since I played this course, and it was in great shape. Will be sure to get back there again soon.
Great course
Course was in excellent condition. I would play more often if it weren't for the distance from my home. Hopefully will play a couple more times this year.
Great round
Challenging but fun layout, lots of par 4s the average golfer shouldn’t be hitting driver into. Very different from any nearby layouts. Worth the drive!
Storm damage
We played three days after a storm had gone through and the course had a lot of damage due to a large wind storm. The rough was long because their probably didn't have time to cut it.
A Must Play
Heritage Bluffs is one of the best 18 hole courses in the Southland and is a must play. It is tough but a fair course with a great layout. The fairways have great movement from tee to green and the greens are fast but can be even faster in drier conditions. Truly a gem of a course.
Sweet track
A joy to play wide open fairways and elevation changes. Course is a great design with plenty of risk reward holes. Condition of course is excellent and they are building a new clubhouse so the amenities were limited
Eh
Fast greens, rushed play by workers, branches hanging in fairways, no variety of holes
Great course
First time playing Heritage Bluffs, I found the course layout challenging. It is not at all boring as some courses with holes that continually look the same. It is worth driving to at least to try it one time.
Just not the same
I have been a long time supporter of Heritage Bluffs up until some major changes last fall. A new director of golf management was brought in who made several changes that have a negative impact. The course staff, except for Glen, is very un friendly and cold. Everyone there used to treat you like you were a member of a great club. Now it’s all about cramming as many rounds in as they can. It is not in common for a round there to take 5 hours, who has time for that. The course quality is also way down. I’ve never seen so much brown/dead grass. The old cups weren’t filled correctly and had sunk lower than the green level causing issues with putting. Approach shots into the green were just as difficult as the ball would bounce when it hit the green. The fairways haven’t been watered in god knows how long. I could barely take a divot out of them, it was like playing on hard pan from the fairway.
It is a shame the way this course is turning out. I used to play 20+ rounds per year there, today was my third since September last year! Had I not gotten a rate of $39 on GolfNow It would have been second!
