Clinton Hill Country Club
About
Clinton Hill Golf Course has a classic, player-friendly layout that has been open to the public since 1970. The traditional design is gentle enough for beginners but there are still challenges in store for the more experienced golfer. The rolling fairways are lined with mature trees and the approach to the massive greens demands proper club selection. The greens are in good condition but they can be tricky and hard to read. Each nine has a distinct character and different set of challenges that will keep golfers on their toes. While the front nine is longer with numerous strategically placed bunkers, water hazards come into play on all but two holes on the back nine. In addition to having an enjoyable layout that appeals to a wide range of skill levels, Clinton Hill Golf Course is also a great value.

nice course
Well maintained and friendly staff. Golf carts are nice
Nice course but slow
Everyone was playing slow and people cut in front of our group. 20 minutes behind tee time. I ended up having to leave after 3.5 hours and only got to play through 12 holes which was disappointing.
Woolly Greens
Greens were bumpy due to not being cut. Fairways were a bit thin.
Great Course,Great Price.
the tee boxes were a little shabby but other than that the greens and the rest of the course where in great shape had a great time, I will be back soon.
overall condition
The greens were solid the fairways an tee boxes were garbage. Needs lots an lots of work for me to return.
Good for the discount
I got a Golfnow.com deal. The greens were in very good condition and the bunkers were in solid shape.
However, the tee boxes were fuzzy and the fairways were too fuzzy and patchy. Couple weird holes on the back nine.
Overall solid place at a discount rate.
My last trip to Cinton Hills GC
The golf day started off by trying to book a tee-time online and running into a mandatory login screen (i.e. having to setup an account) that required a credit card. A bit much just to book a tee time so I called the proshop to set a time up and was told just to come out because the course was wide-open.
I get there and the stated price was 6 dollars above the online price (not a huge deal, it's just the principle of the thing) on their personal website. I told the guy about the difference in price and was offered no discounted rate and a moderate amount of disrespect. To save the 6 bucks I literally had to go to the bar and book my tee time online with my cellphone.
The bar only offered Landshire sandwiches and was told while waiting not to buy them because they taste terrible.
Given the conditions of the course: patchy fairways and no grass on half the tee boxes (the greens were even spray painted to look better!) I can easily say it is not worth $33.
This along with the last time I played there I was denied the 5 o'clock discount with a 4:57 tee time has put me over the edge. There are way too many golf courses in this area to put up with all of the above.
Early for grasses
When it greens up will be better.Tees a little thin now. Fairways also. greens no complaints.Aereation almost grown back in fully.
Awesome Course and Day
Clinton Hills Golf Course really surprised me! I have lived in Belleville for awhile and this was my first time on the course. It was in great condition and posed enough of a challenge while not being too difficult to play for a mediocre player.
I will definitely be back!
Not a good value
All the tee boxes were in extremely poor shape (hardly any grass at all). The fairways were just starting to turn green but we're also not in good condition (very "thin" grass) so they played "tight" and we're hard to hit off of. On the positive side, the greens were all in very good condition.
Pace of Play
Pace of Play is main complaint. Always takes around 5 hours to play 18 holes and there are never any marshals to help speed up play. Would expect slow play on the weekends but not during the week.
Poorly run course
This golf course is very poorly run. They allow multiple 2-somes to tee off by themselves when there is a long line of golfers lined up to tee off (I had also noted this last year when I played here, so it is not a one-time thing). They overbook their tee times, presumably because they don't want to turn away any golfers (money). It took 4 hours to play 13 holes, at which time I had to leave because of plans I had previously made for later in day. If you don't mind playing 5-6 hour rounds, then this the course for you. Otherwise, I would recommend you go elsewhere.
I am very sorry you had such a poor experience, not only this time, but in times past. On last Friday we had some problems with our tee sheet and tee times were booked when they were not suppose to be. If you could send me a message I would like to make it right. justin@clintonhillgolfcourse.com

Great weather, great course!
Very friendly staff. My youngest (she's r)and I went and had a great time. We forgot her jacket and it was a bit breezy. The staff have us a large towel to use as a blanket. She loved that! We will be back.
The fairways were still "greening" due to weather lately. The tee boxes and greens were perfect.
Thank you for the great report, we are glad to hear you had such a good experience. We hope we can make your next round out here great as well.
Thanks

great coursw for price
Overall nice course. Los of trees, greens are great, fairways are still growing. Rough may be too hgh.
Thank you for coming out and playing. The rough is a constant battle out here at the beginning of the season. We are working to get it down to a lower length, and hopefully we can get some warmth in here to get the Fairways to fill in.
Thanks,

Course needs attention. Tees and fairways are in poor shape.
The initial impression at any course comes from the tees and fairways. Both are in bad shape! Greens, however, are good. I'll wait until the fall to play here again. Hopefully, they will correct the conditions noted.
We appreciate you coming out and playing. The Fairways and Tee boxes are still in a dormant stage. With Bermuda grass we need some hot weather to get them to grow where we like them. Hope you try us again in a month or so if it warms up.
Thanks

Good challenge
Wonderful day for golf, course in good shape except for greens due to just been airated recently making putting difficult at times. Still enjoy my round.
The greens have really healed up nicely, thanks for all of your kind words and we look forward to you coming back.

Fun day
Great weather, could think of any thing I would rather be doing. Course has several blind shots as you would be expecting from a place with "hills" in the name. Good shape for time of year.
Sir,
I am sorry you had a poor experience.
As far as the online booking, logging and and entering a credit card is a requirement for all courses using this system. The credit card is not charged, but is used to hold the tee time.
The Pro shop employee was correct in not allowing the same price in shop as online, we dynamically price our tee times online to allow for the best rates to be booked there.
Landshire sandwiches we offer are of a high quality, I am sorry the employee steered you wrong in this. In days of low traffic, we do not have a cook.
The fairways and tee boxes are comprised of bermuda grass, the weather has not been warm enough long enough for them to fill in. I can assure you we DO NOT spray paint our greens. There are times where a dye is mixed in with the fertilizer we put on the greens. This is to assure we do not over spray or miss parts of the green.
I am sorry you had a poor experience and I hope you will reconsider trying us in June or July.
