Clinton Hill Country Club
About
Clinton Hill Golf Course has a classic, player-friendly layout that has been open to the public since 1970. The traditional design is gentle enough for beginners but there are still challenges in store for the more experienced golfer. The rolling fairways are lined with mature trees and the approach to the massive greens demands proper club selection. The greens are in good condition but they can be tricky and hard to read. Each nine has a distinct character and different set of challenges that will keep golfers on their toes. While the front nine is longer with numerous strategically placed bunkers, water hazards come into play on all but two holes on the back nine. In addition to having an enjoyable layout that appeals to a wide range of skill levels, Clinton Hill Golf Course is also a great value.

Nice Course, Difficult back nine
The front nine was truly enjoyable. Not too difficult nor too easy, great for a beginner or regular player. We were told the fairways were not in very good shape as the grass had not grown enough, but we thought they were pretty good. The back nine was pretty difficult with water hazards, dog legs and bunkers but we were able to play it pretty well. A couple of holes were hard to determine, so we had to consult the map a few times. The back nine fairways were in poorer shape but still in good condition for this time of year. We had a wonderful time and would play this course again.
Poor course conditions, extremely slow play
The tees had very little grass and fairways were very spotty even considering the time of year. Greens were is good condition.
We played 9 holes only in more than 2hours 45 minutes
Fun course, great value
While it's an older facility, the course is actually in nice condition. It's early in the season so the fairways are a bit ugly, but the greens are in great shape. There are a few holes that require a layup or a perfect drive which makes for a nice challenge mid round.
Pros: greens are great, soft and well groomed. Can't beat the price on golfnow, pace of play is nice because it's never too busy.
Cons: no gps in carts, some holes are blind uphill shots that have water on the other side so if you haven't played before you'll lose a ball. Fairways and tee boxes need some love (hopefully later in the season it'll get better.)
Fun little muny!
This was a fun course to play. Many of the holes had a little character and most of thHappy Thanksgiving!!!e greens were guarded by sand which I like. I was very surprised at the condition of the course since it's winter but got lies in the fairway and the greens rolled really well. My only complaints are that they allowed a fivesome out and the previous players before me don't know how to fix their ball marks. That aside, I plan on going back after it greens up.
We had a fun time and good price
Front nine was easier than the back nine. Back nine had a few challenging holes. Had a good time. Had a little bit of wait.
Great Course
Played with friend on this Monday. Course was quiet and accommodating.
Average course with bumpy greens
Greens had worn spots and were very bumpy. Costs 7-10 strokes per round. No marshals on the course and waited on every shot through 18 holes, The 2 groups ahead were together and would not let us play through though they had backed up 3 groups and 3 groups skipped ahead to get around the delay. Bunkers were mud and dirt and very little sand.
Saturday Play
Course was in good shap, play was spaced well and we enjoyed ourselves
Clinton Hill GC
Course was mediocre, play was mediocre, Staff was the most unfriendly and rude that I have seen in all of southern Illinois. Come here if you want to be treated like dirt and rushed!
Good challenging course
The course was fun and challenging. Some greens were in not-so-great shape. I didn't like the fact that we got a six pack of beer and ice in a plastic bag, not a cooler. But the course was fun and in pretty good shape.
Clinton hills
Front nine greens were quite blotchy and beat up with lots of ball marks. Back nine were just a little better. Tees were hard to get tees in
a great experience
the course is in fantastic shape the Bermuda fairways are perfect the greens are nice..a few of the holes are a little tricky the first time you play them,, but the second time is not a problem.. I would recommend this course if you want a really nice treat.
Played through the rain
Played the course for the first time for the full 18 holes today. Reserved a tee time through GolfNow which was fast and easy. Two things irked me a little bit were the Tee boxes (grass was a bit too tall) and greens were a bit slow and bumpy (understandably because of the rain I guess). Aside from that the fairways and rough were in good condition. Will definitely play there again, maybe find a group of young people to pair up with as I played solo today.
Great track.
Excellent condition, friendly staff and great value. Challenging due to elevation changes. Well worth playing.
Course is fair
Played behind a fivesome on most courses this is a no no. Course ranger saw us at least three times never spoke
Great Layout
This course is in good condition for the money. They usually don't pack them in here so the pace is usually fantastic. We were paired up with another twosome and was worried because we had 4 foursomes go in front of us but the ranger did his job and the only hole we waited on was #1. I really like the layout of this course, the front nine is longer and the back is a lot of placement shots. The course was in good shape considering it had rained all day, the crew had rolled the greens so they were in good putting condition, not slow at all. I recommend this course for anyone looking to play a decent course at a great price.
BEAUTIFUL COURSE
THE ONLY THING NICER THAN THE COURSE WAS THE STAFF, GREAT PEOPLE, GREAT CONDITION OF COURSE I WILL ABSOLUTELY PLAY THIS ONE AGAIN , ESPECIALLY SINCE I WAS WORSE THAN HANDICAP FIRST TIME AROUND.....A LITTLE CHALLENGING FOR A DRAW HITTER LIKE MYSELF SEEMS TO SET UP BETTER FOR A FADER. EVEN HAD SOME FAWNS VENTURE UP TO WITHIN 20 YDS OF A GREEN, SEE PIC
Overall a very good course.
The course is in good shape. Greens were good, but a bit slow. The fairways were in good condition as well. All of the clover that was there my previous round was gone. They have taken care of the rough as well. It was not dead as is often the case this time of year. Bunkers were in good shape too. Course is not terribly hard, but nice round for the amateur. A bargain for the price! Go and play there!!
Beautiful course to see
The course is in very good condition. We went out on the back 9; a little tougher than the front.
We had not played there in several years.
Only drawback are the blind shots. There were several holes that we weren't sure of the desired route. Best to drive up and get a look.
Don't get a rain check, wait out the rain.
I attempted to play Clinton Hills on a Sunday with my wife. She is a beginner, but very good pace. On the 4th hole it starting pouring buckets on us. It looked like it was going to rain for hours, so we decided to get a rain check. We paid $54 for both of us through GolfNow. I got a rain check for a total of $20! We played 4 friggin' holes! Anyway, since I was upset, I decided we were not ever going to use them. Well I just happened to have a day off during the week, had the rain checks burning a hole in my pocket. I decided to go on GolfNow and see what they had available. I decided to play. This time was a very good experience. If this would have been my first experience with this golf course, they would get all 5 stars. But the kid who worked on that Sunday, really treated me poorly and I don't know if I will ever pay again to play there. I for-sure will not go if there is ever a chance of rain!! The course is beautiful, it could have been our regular GolfNow Sunday course, but after that Sunday, not a chance.
Sir,
Thank Your for the Kind words about the course. As far as the rain check is concerned it was a mistake on my part and not having the computer set up correctly. The problem has since been fixed. If there was a way I could get the rest of your rain check money back to you, I would be more than happy to. I hope you try us again.
Thanks,
Justin Mueller
