Nickol Knoll Golf Club
About
Ever since opening in the mid '90s, Arlington Heights Golf Club has been considered one of the best par-3 golf courses in Chicagoland. It is certainly one of the most unique with three holes that feature vertical-drop tee shots and two holes with uphill tee shots to the green. Although this nine-hole course is only 1,163 yards the large bentgrass tees and greens provide the feel of a full-length course. The layout has nearly 30 bunkers strategically placed throughout and water comes into play on two holes. From the elevated tees you can enjoy a panoramic view of the area, including stunning vistas of the Chicago skyline. Whether you're a beginner looking to get some practice or a scratch golfer who wants to get in a quick round, Arlington Heights Golf Club is a fun and challenging option.

Need to work on short irons???
This is a magnificent course for working on 8,9, P or SW. Very few people on course, you can hit multiple shots without holding anyone up. Each hole I threw some balls around green or in the bunkers. Only problem was there were no rakes in the bunkers. Sand was in great shape, I felt responsible for raking, but I couldn't.
I've played the course for years and always get a great work out with all wedges. Nearly jarred an 8 iron from Walter Payton's tees! Nice 12 inch tap in for 2 on the third hole.
Intriguing Par 3
Great little course for practicing your short game. Mostly teeing off with wedges and short irons. A couple holes have black tees that dont exceed ~165. The elevation changes are what keep this course interesting. Being higher than the surrounding area, you have to consider the wind, and really dial in those distances. Greens were in good condition considering the recent cold/rain.
Great starting course
Now it was not the best kept course but it was a great time playing. Super relaxed and I went with someone who has never played before so it was the perfect place to start. Super friendly staff and overall really good experience
No customer service
Accidentally booked the wrong tee time, called to cancel and and get a refund but the man on the phone said I would have to go through golfnow. Since I checked out as a guest there is no golf now record of my reservation so there is no place to cancel. Person on the phone “couldn’t do a thing about it”. Weather or not that’s true it’s a very silly way to run a business and leaves yourself open to negative reviews.
Great way to squeeze 9 in
You won't need any big clubs but that doesn't mean it's too easy or it's not fun. The biggest challenge here is often the wind, being higher up in a relatively flat area. The slopes off some holes also make some greens play tight. The maintenance is good and the course is clean. On a couple holes the layout isn't totally straightforward and you have to figure out where the next tee is. Overall, it's a great way to get a fast 9 in when you want to work your short irons.
