Nettle Creek
About
Nettle Creek Golf Course in Morris, Ill. offers one of the most unique golfing experiences in southwest Chicagoland. The course has a links-style layout set in a beautiful prairie environment abundant with wildlife, a non-traditional setting for links golf. The championship layout features generous fairways and large, undulating greens flanked with cavernous, free-slowing sand traps. You won't find many trees on Nettle Creek's rolling terrain but colorful wildflowers and native grasses frame all of the holes. In addition to several strategically placed bunkers, water comes into play frequently in the form of ponds and wetlands. There are ample risk-reward opportunities that will test your shot-making skills. You may find that you have to use every club in your bag. The golf course has some challenging holes but it's still forgiving enough for players of any skill level to enjoy.

3.5 Stars / Nice Course but not overly interesting
Course is worth the $30 for a Hot Deals time on the weekend but not much more than that. Course is fairly well maintained, greens were nice, not bumpy and good speed but I had at least 5 putts that had to go over old cup positions (couple of holes there were several right around the hole we played so it wasn't all bad luck). Players don't rake sand traps very well and aren't real careful walking on the greens (scuff marks, etc). Only a couple of memorable holes on this course otherwise it's what I'd term a cookie cutter modern layout, some minor elevation changes with very little shade that winds through a course community.....thankfully the houses are far enough back so they aren't intrusive. Reminds me a little of Carillon/Broken Arrow/Golf Club of IL but a tad more updated. Beware - No water jugs on the course at all so stock up prior to going out...most especially on hot days. Glad I played it once....I'll go back next year to see if my opinion changes....we had fun, course was empty on a Sunday afternoon... the cart lady was nice and it was a nice day. $6 for range balls was pretty steep.
Could be a great course to play,But....
fairways were not mowed, tee boxes in rough shape, yard markers were covered with grass. With some tlc this would be a great course to play. I would not recommend this course in its current condition.
Very well maintained.
Fun course to play with my son and my regular foursome.
Very nice greens and wide fairways
Enjoyed playing the course. Fairways were fairly wide and greens were in very good shape. Would definitely play again. Lady in pro shop could have been a little more welcoming.
great hole number 1.
this course is worth the drive. Near Morris IL just off I-80 exit 105.
One of the Best courses at a decent price
The course was well maintained, greens were looking great. The only issue is the markers and the carts.. Update your carts and put some markers down. if you leave in the area its a great place to play at a good price other courses around here like hertiage bluffs is crazy in price and it is not friendly..
What a great golf course !!
I went to Nettle Creek CC with a good friend of mine and from the time we walked into the pro shop until the time we left A++++ experience !!!! The fairways and greens are like PGA courses, and the rough and sand were also in excellent shape. The employee's and even the other golfers on the course were very polite. I can't wait to play there again !!!!!! Perfect for all handicaps. I would recommend this course to anybody !!!!!
Poor yardage markers
In my opinion this cours was in good condition. However there were very little yardage markers. No yardage books were available either. Staff was friendly and the greens were in good shape.some of the tee boxes could use some work. The price I thought for being so far from Chicago was a bit pricy. I definatley will not golf there on a weekend at full price. Just not worth it. But a good deal on the weekday maybe.
Blah blah blah
The overall course was fine. I personally would not make the drive to go back and the other golfers in my party said the same. It just didn't appeal to us. The food is aweful
Nettle creek is fun
Great value and wonderful course, lots of water and fairways are huge! Challenging but also forgiving
It is a very nice golf course.
The course was in real good condition for this time of year. I payed a very good price through golfnow.com which made for a pleasurable experience.
Course is designed for both the average and better golfers!
Great course, challenging, yet fun to play & excellent value. I play with group of friends twice a week all season long. Our group of 6 to 7 golfers feel the club pro is less than cordial to say the least, but on the other hand the head ranger is excellent.
overall good
They need water on the coarse. Not enough yardage markers. The carts are old.I like the layout and greens.Great sand in the bunkers
Great course
I like this links style course. I play a lot of course with lots of trees. It is refreshing to be able to get away from the trees for once.
Medium
The course was worth the ride out there, fairways were in great shape. And the lay out of the course makes it a lot of fun. I would play it again and tell my friends.
