Very good shape
Always a fun play Cinder was very well maintained more so than in previous years. Sand traps were maintained well and our two some played through a bachelor party of 4 groups and finished in well under 4 hours on a Saturday afternoon no less. The folks always at Cinder are always welcoming. The 8th green in particular suffered some winter damage but was still really playable. Just wish folks would repair their ball marks.......Cinder is worth a play or two each year and it's nice to see them on Golfnow offering some hotdeals!!
The view is great
This place is awesome the fairways are like carpet and the greens roll fast. Bring plenty of balls.
Great VAlue
Course in Excellent condition will be back. It
was a little out of my way but worth the trip
Keep in in the short grass
Pretty tough course. Must hit the ball straight as there is water and tall prairie grass/brush/forest lining nearly every hole. Not a great place for beginners. Course was in good shape. Nice layout with a good mix of short and long holes. Recommended.
PLAY IT!
EXCELLENT SHAPE! FOR THE WEATHER BEING EXTREMELY HOT, WATER WAS AVAILABLE ALL OVER THE COURSE! GREAT DAY! WILL GO BACK FOR SURE!
No beverage cart!!!
It was approaching triple digits and we didn't see the beverage cart on the back 9. Unacceptable and probably borderline dangerous!
Great value
Great value. Course was on nice shape. Fun holes. Some holes with elevation change. Would play there again any time. Worth the drive. Bring some extra balls.
Bring Balls
Cinder Ridge is one of the best courses for the money. But be aware that any balls that miss the general fairway area is GONE! CR was built on land recovered from the days of strip mines. There are cliffs and drop offs that are absolutely unforgiving. The layout will challenge ANY level of golfer. And the course is just pure fun. It is a must play!
Great value for the,price
The staff was very friendly and the pace of play was excellent. The course was in great shape despite it raining all week. I like the five set of tees you can play and pick for your level.
Great Course for the Price
This is a great place to play if you do not mind driving about 1 and 10 from the city.
Course is usually in very good shape.
Has some scenic holes.
Some very good holes. Water Holes, Bunkers etc. Some easy holes and some harder holes.
For $45 to ride on the weekend it is a steal. You can use the extra money you save for drinks and food on course.
Love this place
Very challenging course just what I like. Pace was great went early morning. Differently will be back soon. Greens had a good roll to them.
Can't beat it
This golf course is the best around the area. The grounds crew has done a tremendous job with the course. Very good conditioning, and a great layout, beginners will think it's tough. Must play a few times to pick your sight lines off the tee. Some approach shots need an extra club because the terrain has a slight elevation change. Overall can't beat it at the price.
Cinder is in the best shape in years!!
Course conditions were excellent. Cinder is a very fun track and always plays pretty tough (132 slope from white tees!!). Course was empty on a Saturday afternoon. Everything was well maintained and bridge construction traffic on I55 was not much of an issue at all. Definitely worth a play at least once or twice a year as this course has a very good variety of holes. Greens were some of the best played yet this season. Go play this place....it's fun and different!!
I'd love another crack at this one
I found Cinder Ridge to be a great challenge, although I think a little local knowledge would have helped immensely. It has all the characteristics of a premium course, but very affordable. Every hole was different, so you never seem to get a break. There are lots of risk/reward holes, but you better know what you're doing (and have plenty of golf balls with you). The greens were immaculate and fun to putt on, but getting there is the hard part. Plus, if there's any wind, which there usually is in this part of Illinois, you're in for a real quandary. A real grind, but fun. The course won this time, but I hope to get my revenge next time.
