Cantigny Golf - Woodside/Lakeside

Booked this round for a foursome on GN about a week in advance. Future weather predicted sunny skies all weekend, unfortunately it rained hard the day before my round. Course play was and stayed cart path only for the entire round which is terrible. Slow play, wrong club selection and the GPS that you pay extra for is pointless at that time.

Long story short, I know courses cannot predict the weather as 3rd party agents cannot either. The biggest issue was because it was cart path only, the course discounted the greens fees at time of pay. I had to pay full price on GN (third party), also used credits I earned to reduce the fee and I was essentially out over $175 by booking on GN.

Buyer beware, GN provides a convenience but sometimes it really isn’t the best way or most cost effective way to book. (As they advertise as a “Hot Deal”). My recommendation is to find the hot deal, call the course and see if they will honor the same price over the phone prior to paying with no money upfront. Golf Courses need to create their own loyalty for best prices guaranteed, not just best tee times.

Very wet conditions following a stormy am. Course does not drain well. Pace very slow. Hard to get into any kind of rhythm.

This course is top notch. Challenging and fun. And the guys that put your golf clubs into the carts are quite handsome. Eye candy ;-)

Played on a Sunday afternoon with some friends. The practice facilities are great. The people working at the course are really pleasant. The course conditions were great, except for a few bunkers with just dirt in the bottoms. Greens rolled nice. It's a wonderful course layout, built so that you're not seeing too many other players out there on other holes. But the pace of play was the biggest downfall. A 5:15 pace in carts is unacceptable in my opinion.

Magnificent golf course. Incredible property. Number one public golf course in the Chicagoland area hands down. What a gem, what a treat, what a beautiful golf course unmatched in the area. Wish prices were a bit more reasonable but worth every dime. Magical place.

Really enjoyed everything about my visit. To start, Cantigny has one of the better practice facilities around. Multiple putting and chipping greens, large range with grass to hit off of and several indoor bays as well. We played Lakeside and Woodside. Course layout and scenery was great. Good mix of distances so I used most of my clubs, dog legs both ways. Water and woods were in play most holes, so it was fairly challenging as well. Luckily, the cart GPS system shows you everything and was also a big plus. Fairways, greens, bunkers, and tee boxes were all in excellent shape. Page of play was decent for a beautiful Saturday. If i had any complaints, the greens were maybe a touch slow but that probably helped my game and sometimes the carts shut off if you got close to certain areas but that’s minor. I will definitely be back; it’s my new favorite course.

Truly a beautiful coarse., In incredible shape even during a drought in Illinois. 3 different 9's is also a bonus.
