Opened in 1926, in the "Classical ERA" of U.S. course development, St. Andrews Golf & Country Club has been recognized as the oldest family owned-operated golf course in Illinois.
St. Andrews Golf & Country Club was originally built in 1926 as a rival to the Chicago Golf Club. Since then, the club has built its own reputation and stands out for its two championship golf courses and top-ranked practice center. The St. Andrews Course is the club's original layout before the Joe Jemsek Course was added in 1929. It is also the longer of the two golf courses. The club and course draw their name from the famous Scottish club known as the "home of golf," but the course is far from being a seaside links. Instead, the mostly flat layout weaves through mature trees. The golf course offers a challenge with tight, tree-lined doglegs and large, contoured greens framed with sand bunkers. It has a memorable finish with a par 4 that features a water hazard along the entire right side of the fairway.

Winter golf
One of the few Chicago land courses open through the winter. Conditions are obviously not the best but green fees are cheap so can't complain. Orange of play was on the slow side this particular day but it was pretty busy since it was a warmer winter day.
Great course
If you are looking for someplace to play when the weather starts getting cold this is your place. They have cart covers on the carts already which until it snows can extend your playing season if you don’t have your own cover. Course isn’t the most interesting but the greens are very challenging and it’s always in good shape despite the amount of play during the summer. Definitely one of our go to courses.
Nice course but windy
We played it during a windy day when the fairways and greens were full of leaves. Quite hard to play and a bit strange that my son’s girlfriend could not walk with us on the course when she was not playing. Anyway, during a calm day the course is probably great.
Cart return time
Played Sunday, 10/23.. They requested carts be returned by 6 pm. Ok, I understand. BUT they were so anxious to get us out of there, they blocked off the paths to get carts even close to the parking lot. So we had to carry clubs from back of clubhouse around to lot.
Kind of rude and unnecessary.
Thank you for your comments. We reviewed our security cameras & saw that a customer had parked their cart on the end of a row, blocking the thoroughfare. We apologize that our cart staff did not move the cart in a timely manner.

Birthday gift
Such a great treat for my husband and his friends. It was a cold day but the staff was very helpful with picking the right cart so the guys were able to use their cart cover. The course was in fantastic condition. The course is quite challenging which the guys loved. The greens were very fast but that is due to the recent weather. I can really recommend going there: fantastic stuff that just wants to make it right and great for you, fantastic course and great food and drink. What could you possibly wish more for?! (Warmer weather. Lol!)
