I honk for public course it's fair fun and in very good shape, and for most speed of green very nice. Which I think is very important
ONLY issue with Kellogg
Kellogg is an enjoyable course insofar as layout and course condition. My only complaint (aside from all the on-course garbage cans overflowing with trash) is the number of twosomes allowed on the course on Sunday, each of whom expected to play through foursomes. Twosomes on Sunday should either find friends, pair up with another twosome at the course, or expect to wait on foursomes.
Course has a number of difficulties found on most championship courses- such as ample sand traps, water, doglegs,
Course is in very good condition for this time of year. Early May.
Kellogg PPD's Crown Jewel
The course was in great shape aside from some bumps on the greens from recent aeration. We look forward to our next round at Kellogg. 4 thumbs up.
Golfed many times
Great deal, saved lots of money and had a good time. Kellogg is a great course for the money..
Major Improvement at Kellogg
I must give credit where credit is due... the Peoria Park District has heard the numerous complaints and has greatly improved the way Kellogg Golf Course is being managed.
Previous issues with slow play have been worked on and the pace of play over the past few months has been average to good.
This is fantastic news for the Peoria golf community. Kellogg is by far the crown jewel of the Peoria Park District's golf course lineup and it truly is an enjoyable layout. The course is almost always in very good shape and they're very intelligent about when to not allow carts out (several holes do not have cart paths and are susceptible to cart damage in soggy conditions) and when to close the course for the day entirely.
The course itself is moderately challenging but not overly daunting. There are holes that offer decisions/challenges to golfers of any skill level (the par 5 8th hole is a great example). Greens are typically a little slow but not unfair. If you arrive early and take time to roll a few putts on the practice green it is usually a fair representation of the actual speed for the day.
The snack shop and clubhouse facilities are adequate for a public course but unspectacular. Kellogg's putting green is nice and well kept. The Park District's Golf Learning Center across the street is a great resource for those looking to hit a bucket of golf balls or work on their short game prior to their round.
Overall, I recommend Kellogg to anyone looking for an enjoyable, fairly priced round in the Peoria area.
Good meat and potatoes public course
Greens soft but ran nice speed. Fw in good shape. Nothing fancy. Typical parkland course
Eh
Decent conditions outside of the greens. Putting thru a million ball marks. Fix your ball marks people.
Not Bad
Ok course. There are a couple of quirky par 5s that require less than driver off the tee. The greens would be better if people would learn to fix their ball marks.
there are better courses in the area for a comparable price.
Kellogg peoria
Excellent experience. Good course conditions and time of play
Unbearably slow
Everyone knows the Peoria Park District is inept (R.I.P. Donovan Golf Course) but the way Kellogg is run is comically poor.
This was the the 2nd (and final) time we have attempted to play this course and had to stop before getting 18 holes in due to the pace of play. 4 hours in and we were only on hole 14. They actually have a Marshall... He just does not care, apparently.
At $35-40 a round, this course is a terrible value when compared to other courses in the area that are similarly priced (Weaver is $49 after 3, Metamora Fields, Coyote Creek, etc.). The value is diminished even further once you factor in that the round will inevitably take you 6 hours.
It's really a shame... This should be a nice public course in Peoria. Sadly, you're much better off playing the other courses I mentioned or driving across the river and playing Quail Meadows (East Peoria) or one of the 3 public courses in Pekin.
Kellogg great course and location
Very nice course, not too much sand or water but enough to make it challenging.. Great location a cross from Golf learning center to practice before.
Sloooowwwww Pace of Play
We were told the afternoon was "wide open" so no tee time would be needed. We immediately drove to the course to play. This could not have been further from the truth.
3.5 hours into the round we had completed 12 holes. The course was completely overloaded with slow 4-somes. There was a Marshall driving around, but I'm not entirely sure what he was doing. He certainly wasn't trying to speed anyone up or enforce golf etiquette. It's a shame... it's a decent (but overpriced) course... but we will not be back. No time for a 6 hour round of golf (with cart) on a Saturday afternoon.
Good course for everyday play
Course is nice enough to play every day. Fair course for the average golfer
Kellogg GC
Temperature was in the 60's and the wind was up a bit which made the course play longer. Course conditions were the best I've seen for this course in years. New improvements to the course have taken place over the past several years and have made for a better golf course. Very pretty course in the spring. Lots of people play here. Greens were very fast, particularly above the holes. Jet speed would be a better description on the some of the greens. New bunkers and removal of some trees gives the course some nice appeal. This course plays tough in the wind as do most courses, but putting the lightening fast greens in the wind can turn out to be a real challenge. A bit expensive for a city course, but good deals can be found on various golf sites. Overall a nice place to play golf.
PPD PAin
We drove up to the course and they had a sign posted " NO Carts Today" Totally "BS" and lazy part on grounds crew. Left course and drove to Newman another PPD course and we played a full 18 in 3 hours with a cart
Fun Course
A good mix of long and short holes, challenging pin placements, with a good mix of sand and water. Greens were soft and course was in decent shape for the time of year. Staff was very friendly, would definitely play again.
Love the new bent grass
The bent grass along with some changes to the bunkers has made Kellogg the best PPD course. The course still has a few areas that need attention, especially around some greens, but it's still one of the best maintained courses in the Peoria area.
