Nice hidden little gem
One of my favorite courses. Not a big fan of the front 9, too much water, too flat with narrow fairways on several holes and the weeds were so high we couldn't even see the landing areas. If you are going to skip fairways too the water at least have some rough to stop marginal shots. But it is still a fun layout, especially 2,4,8 and 9. The greens were very fast and very true.
But oh my does the back 9 make up for the trip. Every single hole has elevation changes and generous landing areas. If you are hitting the ball well you can go low and if you are off it won't kill you. One of my favorite 9 holes in Chicago. I highly recommended this course!
Ok, nothing special, decent country course if you live out there, odd lay out
Not great, a little quirky. Lots of water, tall grass and target golf shots. Greens are a little slow. Food service and drink service are a little questionable. Cannot get alcohol on back aside from 13th tee. Say what?
Let us explain... We sit on the border of two townships, one dry and one wet. For that reason we are only aloud to serve alcohol on the parts of the property that are on the wet side of the line - front nine and 13th tee. We apologize if you found this confusing. Thanks for taking the time to fill out a review!
Farmland Gem
Whitetail is on the edge of nowehere, surrounded by farmland but is a hidden gem. Tough to get to from the city but worth the drive once in a while.
First and foremost, thanks for making the drive to come check us out. Second, thanks for the review and for recommending our course! We're glad you enjoyed your round and hope you make the drive again soon.
Hidden Gem
PROS- Value best deal if you can play before 9 am, not overplayed so well kept. great open views, pace of play well controlled, tee options to everyones ability, craft beer selection.
Cons- location is not convienient unless you are close to south yorkville, no drink cart, no food or beverage open at turn, had to track down staff,
Its worth the drive.
Thank you for the great review and for recommending the course. We hope to see you again soon!
Nice layout...
Course was in great shape even with the recent high amount of rain.
Clubhouse didn't open till 11 so couldn't each in the restaurant before the round, then the hot dogs and brats weren't quite hot enough
Nice course
Nice course out in the country. It's a challenging course but well worth it.
Great deals on golf now
Always 4 1/2 round.... Just expect it. Also holes are a little too close together.. But for this price, this course is fantastic. Always in great shape, staff is above and beyond friendly. We try and play here at least 2-3x a year.
Privately owned, Very nice place with great staff!
Good course, well maintained. Very friendly professional staff. Tips make the course a solid track. thanks and will play there again.
Very good course
The course was in very good condition considering all of the recent rain in the area. The course was challenging; but, fair. The greens were in great condition. The staff was friendly. Very good value. We will play this course again on a regular basis.
Fun and fair
First time playing this course and had a great experience. I have high standards since my home course is Cantigny and i was very pleased with this track. It was the perfect balance of challening and fair. The greens were very fair which i like. Also has some greats views of the countryside which i wasn't expecting. Overall i had a great time and i'll definitely be going back.
Great looking course!
Course was fantastic. For the greens being so young they had alot of character. Difficult to read because of undulations...but rolling true! Par 3s were the best. First time playing...so it was difficult to know what to hit off the tee.
white tail ridge
Very nice course for the money. the maintenance on the course was very well done
Local
Played here many times as its close to where I live. Front nine is pretty flat and has a decent amount of water but nothing that really gets in the way. #1 is a birdie hole as is the par 5 2nd. #3 is also an easy hole. The par 3 over water is an uphill that i hate but its a nice hole.
The back nine has lots of elevation changes. #10 is uphill, 11 is a par three downhill, 12 is a downhill across water, 13 is a par 5 uphill to the left, 14 is a long par 3 over water, you can hit hybrids here depending on your distance. 15 is a straight uphill par 4 and 16 is a downhill 1st shot hitting uphill the rest of the way. 17 is a par three hitting from hugely elevated tee boxes and 18 is just a fun little finishing par 4.
I love Whitetail Golf Course
Whitetail is definitely my favorite course to play in the 7 counties. It has every challenge yet is allot of fun. The people are always nice and the course is in great shape.
This course was great experience
Excellent shape. Nice challenging course
Would recommend to others.
The Ridge
This is a great course for any level of golfer. Course layout is great and somewhat challenging, and was in fantastic shape.
Fantastic
The course was in fantastic shape. Greens were smooth and fast, and the fairways green and lush.
beautiful layout
course was in excellent condition, except the sand traps
Bunkers Need Help
Overall the course was in very good shape. The fairways and greens were very nice.it is a very nice and interesting course and the group golfer coupon made the price great. The only issue was that the bunkers had not been worked on or raked. Some look like they had water in the bottom but it was now dry. All it needed was some raking to bring them back to playability but virtually none were done. Also there was no ranger and the back nine got a bit backed up. Still a nice course and I will return.
Not a bad track, but had to wait every hole got to hole #8 3 groups waiting ended up quitting after 9 .
Give the Front 9 a Eight , End up quitting after 9 Holes . The Staff was very rude , Don hung up on me on the phone -and when I checked in Gary acted like he was doing me a GREAT FAVOR NEVER SAID THANKS OR ENJOY YOUR ROUND !! Pretty rude, Never will I drive an HOUR to play there again !! Will have mor Fun hitting a Plastic ball around in my back yard !!
Thank you for the review and for recommending our course. We are thrilled to hear that you like the back nine so much - the elevation changes really make it. We hope to see you again soon!
