Pretty good overall
Course In overall great shape but as usual the sand traps need help. I’d pay $20 more for good sand traps
Pace of play SLOW
The course is in great shape for what it is. The bunkers are clay so don't hit in them. The pace of play is insanely slow. I wish they had rangers on the course to keep the game moving.
This is a great course
Course was in surprisingly good shape for early in the season. Greens rolled great. Still some bunkers that were almost unplayable but the course is so good that you tend to overlook that.
They’ve clearly given up
Such a great course, but they’ve clearly given up trying to keep the bunkers playable. Not even one bunker was maintained or playable. Tee boxes are bad as well. Such a shame.
George Dunne Course
Overall it was a positive experience the course was well kept… not much sand in the sand traps. Everything was well maintained and the the staff was friendly course played well.
Great course and layout! Horrible sand traps, mostly clay.
Great course and layout! Horrible sand traps, mostly clay.
Very challenging, especially the greens. Fast and tricky!
Very nice staff.
This course has huge greens
Good bang for your buck. Get out early because it can be slow. Greens rolled nice. Bunkers were less then desirable.
Great layout, bunkers need some work.
The course has a great layout and is very challenging. Greens and fairways were in decent shape. There are a ton of large bunkers and plenty of water hazards. The bunkers had very little sand and lots of pebbles and rocks. Otherwise a great value.
Please fix the bunkers
Please put money into the bunkers. On every hole there are multiple bunkers. Please put good quality sand in them and make them playable. Too many bunkers not to take care of them. The course could use a new club house also.
Still early in the season
Course was pretty wet from the raid the week leading up to when I played. A lot of clean and replace happening. Course itself is fun. It isn’t just driver 9i/wedge. You have to think through shots and avoid hazards/OB.
A great layout almost wasted by poor management
This course has a great layout. The Forest Preserve, that owns this and several other courses hires companies to manage the courses. I played this course before and during Billy Casper company managed it. Casper did not do a good job. Currently managed by Indigo. The course conditions have not gotten much better. It is hard for me to drive about 1 hr to go and play this course too often.
If only the traps were better
The course was in great shape except for the traps. The are completely unplayable and they ate everywhere.
Good FP Course
I haven’t played them all but I imagine George Dunne is the best forest preserve course in Cook County. It’s quite challenging with a lot of bunkers. It was ~very wet today and the starter said it’ll probably be cart path only for the rest of the week. However, the greens were in good condition and towards the end of the round were dry and moving fast. I got an early round in and was paired with a nice threesome so pace and partners weren’t an issue. I enjoyed the course - would recommend.
Course operator here. Thanks for playing George Dunne, and we appreciate your note. You mention two areas that are our highest priorities. We are attending to the bunkers this week and next, and we have set the tee boxes to heal from more intense Winter play than we've had in some time.
We are always putting maximum effort into making conditions the best they can be, so your feedback is critical to that ongoing process.
Thanks again for choosing us, and we hope to see you again soon.
