About
Foss Park Golf Course has a convenient location in North Chicago that is an easy drive in from the city. It's a public course that is known amongst locals for being one of the area's best golf values. The layout is wide-open save for three holes that are framed by towering mature trees. The golf course strikes a good balance between being challenging and playable. The fairways are narrow and demand accuracy but the massive greens are more forgiving. Each hole offers a variety of different playing options, which makes the course appealing to a wide range of skill levels. The golf course has plenty of sand, plus water hazards come into play on several holes. There is also a driving range and large practice putting green available at Foss Park G.C.

Nice course but with slow play
Foss Park is a nice course with fun holes and large greens the only issue is the pace of play about 5 1/2 hours on weekend just to slow for me on a simple course I will play again during the week

Hidden gem
Couple of tight, couple of quirky holes. Usually private CC speed greens but it rained a lot that week. They rolled true just not as fast as in past. Same with tee boxes. Soft and shaggy and tough to tee it high enough. Clover in rough made it tougher to find white golf balls. (I know, stay in fairway) Otherwise, best value course you have never heard of.

Solid Performer
Very well maintained course. Tee Boxes, Greens and Fairways were all in excellent shape. Greens well defined and all rolled consistently. Tee boxes good size allowing you to choose a good angle to take on the hole.
Staff was very friendly and appreciated people coming out to play.

Continue to enjoy the course
The course was in very good shape. Enjoyed the company of the fellow golfer. They resolved the cart availability problem earlier in the year. Still need to have better starters to manage the pace of play.

Foss
The Majestic Oak trees that line several holes, create a challenge that is usually reserved for bunkers. I love the challenge of the course that requires both low and high handicappers to always have to think about their next shot.

A mess!
Truly stunningly embarrassingly bad. The carts were beaten up, many had broken windshields. Should have taken that as an omen. Got to the course and the first hole had a foursome on the green, a single on the lady’s tee box who was teeing off, a man on the senior tee box who had just teed off, and a foursome on the back tees getting ready to tee off. Yes, FOUR GROUPS playing one hole. As a single, how was I supposed to fit in anywhere. I was sent to hole 10 by the very rude and confused starter, where I was met by three angry foursomes waiting and wondering where I’d come from. As I hopelessly went back to the clubhouse ready to call it quits and go back home (40 mins away, mind you), I was told by the head pro I could not get my money back from him, but rather that I had to call GolfNow. No “sorry” no nothing. When I called GolfNow, they called the pro shop to confirm the troubles I’d had. The Pro Shop apparently completely denied there were any troubles with my tee time; that I left on my own accord. What?!? Got my money back eventually but folks: do not golf here. Do not waste your money or your time. It’s a dump.

Idk vibes were off
Felt weird out there. Really tough greens to read. Some fast some slow some bad some good. Paired with a random that was acting like Tiger tryna win a masters. Took 4 hours to play 16 holes. Idk just wasn’t it. Layout was weird
