Manteno Golf Club

Overall, it was a good course. There was not much difference between the rough and fairway grass but everything was cut nicely. The fairways were in good condition as well. The down side was that greens were a little rough. Some were a little patchy with rough spots but didn't effect play much. I enjoy playing the course everyone I go!

Tee boxes rather rough but at this time of year and no one playing you cannot perfect conditions! Great course to have quality time with your children.

We got a lot of rain but the course was in good shape. The greens seemed to be diseased earlier in the year but are in good shape now... Manteno golf is doing a good job on the course..I say give it a try...

Played several different courses this year none this bad, very much in need of water and care. Broken yardage signs, memorial on 14 very sad condition. Sorry

Only positive about this course was that I found a hot deal for $13 . Even though that's a great price I wouldn't play this course again regardless of the price. Pace of play was terrible and course conditions were awful. Couldn't tell the tea boxes from the fairways from the rough. Stay away!

I had never played this course before and was not expecting much. However, I was pleasantly surprised at this very nice tract. I had the course to myself and played 18 in 3.5 hours. Although a flat course, it was still fun, with some trees and bunkers to add to the challenge. The greens were were in great shape and putted true. The bluegrass fairways were in good shape but did need a mowing the day I played though. There is a convenient driving range next to the parking lot and a nice practice putting green outside the clubhouse. I recommend this course and I will be returning here to play again. I played using a Golfnow Hot Deal ($10 for 18 holes including cart!) so my experience was extra good.

Used to play this course almost every day of the summer when I lived there in high school. It wasn't a great course then, but they did at least keep it maintained and used some water. It's curgently a concrete dirt pile tee to green. Awful. Wouldn't play it again, even for the steal of a $12 hot deal.

The course is worth playing. Fairways are in good shape. Staff friendly.

The greens are cut low but there is little trouble putting as the ate fairly flat and the ball runs true. Lots of trees and some sand traps but they do have sand in them making it easy to get out.

All in All the course was in okay condition except the greens need some attention. dried out...grooves... I like this course to use as practice but not getting a true put takes away from the game...

I made tee time on golf now an hour ahead of time because it was available. When I arrived the course was closed due to a tournament! They told me I could tee off in about an hour which I did. When I tried to get something to eat at the turn I was told the kitchen was closed! This was also due to the tournament so all I could get was a bag of chips and a coke. Why was the tee time available on golf now if the course was closed and food can only be provided for tournament players? Very strange experience.

Course was fair to play with the exception of par 5 on back nine. The fairway was not evident with several overgrown mature trees. The greens were fast but fair, the fairway needed a little more seed and water, sand traps were concrete like. I booked on golfnow for $13 for 18 and cart so hard to complain. Great value at $13, not worth normal rate though.

This course is always well groomed. They are trying to grow grass back from all the water spots.

The course was very dried out. Drives rolled forever, which I liked, but you could not hit an approach shot to the green on the fly and have it stay on the green. This made for some very frustrating shots.

With the current course conditions I should have been warned by staff!! Front was playable....back looked like it hadn't been mowed in two weeks!! The rough was beyond brutal!! Lost 10 balls!! Should have demanded a refund!! The water situation in Kankakee county is tough....but to let people out with letting them know it's tough is unfair!!

I just started playing this year and I'm trying to hit as many courses as possible but this is the course i keep coming back to given the price and the challenge it provides. I've been out to some overly challenging courses for a beginner but I'm always looking for the next challenge.

Of the 4 courses in the immediate area Aspen, Elks, Oak Springs & Manteno it ranks 4th. Greens are slow not USA cut and rough in places with much weed in them. Fairways r not well defined and grass is inferior. I would guess it does not do well financially. Back 9 is shorter and plays much faster than front. Course is flat not rolling like the other 3 top choices. Overall Aspen is the jewel 4 the money in the close in area. Will not seek 2 play there again only tried again because of GN price.

No complaints here, good course to play for the money we spent. Would definitely go back

The course is in good shape greens are med for speed but your iron shots hold the greens.
