About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2022.
Gleneagles County Club is home to two 18-hole golf courses, the Red and White. Opened in 1924, both courses have traditional layouts that have withstood the test of time. The Red Course, also known as the Lakes, is the longer of the two. Water hazards come into play on several holes, including what is considered the club's best par 3. The Red's 16th is a 170-yard hole that plays directly into the wind to an elevated green that is protected in front by a pond. It's a tough green to hit but a relatively easy one to putt. Both Gleneagles golf courses appeal to a wide range of skill levels, which is one reason why the club is known as the "Home of the Shotgun Start," serving as host to hundreds of golf outings every year.

Had a good time but one complaint
If you miss the fairway by even a few feet there is a good chance your ball is lost. A few times my ball was less than 10 feet off the fairway and it was difficult if not impossible to find. Cut the grass. We're not playing the US Open...
Poor Quality
Very disappointed with the conditions of the red course. First of all, the course isn't very well marked to follow from one hole to another. Some tee boxes are back to back for two different holes which is tough for teeing off. Women's tee boxes on some of the holes are so small & slanted besides being way too long that it was difficult to tee off. Pace of play was much too slow. Got to the 17th hole & the maintenance crew decided to water the green while we were going to hit onto it. Kept us waiting & waiting, wouldn't move even though we called to them a couple of times so we finally just hit our shots!! Complained to the pro shop afterwards about this situation. Will never go back to play this course again. There is too many courses in the midwest that offer better!
Red Course
Went off at 6:05 Moved along fine Done by 9:15
Course in great shape .
Fringe around greens were higher then normal
Brought a friends, they loved it!
I've played Gleneagles about 3 or 4 times since 2017 and I have had nothing but exceptional experiences, and a fun time with each visit! Several weeks ago I had my foursome of my girlfriend and her daughter, and my friend Joe - neither of them have ever played Gleneagles before - and they all had a great time. June 5th I played with my friend Anthony, who hasn't been to Gleneagles in about 10 years, and he also enjoyed the course. Everyone will definitely be back to play again with me.
Great Value Course was in great shape
Got a great deal from GolfNow - great value for the course which was in great shape. Bunkers had water but were being pumped out by the staff which were respectful of golfers. Check in was easy and staff was friendly!
Great course
Great staff and well kept course...great afternoon of golf!
Gleneagles
Played with my golf buddy. We play any weather above 35 degrees. The course was in great shape for the fall. Got a great deal $12 bucks. Red course is challenging. Leaves were not a factor as they were cleared off the fairways.
Great holes and close in
Our group plays the Gleneagles several times a year. We always enjoy playing there although the sand traps need some work. Don't miss the fish sandwiches at the grill after your round.
Much Improved conditions
Last time I played this course 2 yrs ago the fairways were rock hard and burnt, greens were severely beat up.......Yesterday I gave it another shot because golfnow had a great hot deal I couldn't pass up....I was very surprised and impressed by the current conditions, fairways were nice and green, very nice to hit off of. Greens were in great shape, rolled true and were fairly quick. Only bad thing, No driving range or chipping area, just a small putting green!
Pretty challenging for the average weekend golfer, small fairways and smaller greens with deep bunkers, makes a 15 handicapper feel like their on the tour, worst part was the geese and the sand traps weren't well kept. Overall a nice way to spend a Sunday
Course was in good condition but there was a outing before I teed off. First nine holes was slow but opened up on back nine.
Gleneagle - Red Course
I enjoyed playing this course but since it was my first time three weeks ago, I can only remember the course had no issues and was in good condition. I played poor, but that was no reflection on the course, just on my game that day. I was linked with another single and we got along great.
Great for beginners
This was my 4th time playing golf. I went with some more experienced guys and was pleased by the pace, and conditions. Not too many obstacles mostly straight ahead. I enjoyed it!
good value
great value, greens very fast and in very good condition,
Don't waste your money
This will be one of my most reviews, which is tough because I normally give courses the benefit of the doubt and normally write raving reviews on golfnow and golf advisor. Bottom line Gleneagles has a very boring layout, course conditions are pretty brutal, and pace of play is always a joke. Furthermore they have the audacity to charge around 50 bucks. I'll pay 100 bucks all day at solid courses like Mistwood, Thunderhawk, and Prairie Landing. This course is good for outings with people who don't know any better because if they did they'd be playing other courses around Lemont. For example Cog Hill, Ruffled Feathers (hope their conditions improve), Big Run, and Willowcrest. I'm sure Gleneagles personnel will read this, but you can save your comment because I for sure will not return.
