Spring fever
Straight course with hard fast greens. Many people out on a sunny morning made for slow play. Great value and a signature hole # 2 with the green surrounded by water.
My favorite course in Joliet!!
Love this course.. challenging great conditions... fun round if golf!!
Good course for the money
Overall a good course for the money. The sand traps are despicable. Rocks, dirt, and little sand. Some are partially filled in with dirt. Some have grass replacing the sand.
Note the slope ratings on the greens, not for the novice
We were grouped in a foursome, as a couple, and two singles, not unexpected on a weekend, still a number of other courses in the area will let a twosome out, as long as you respect pace of play.
Because of this, it's a bit rushed for the recreational golfer, who plays in the 90s, or is challenged by a difficult green.
Several holes parallel the roadway, on the front 9 your slice may land you in the road, your hook will on the back 9. Some close fairways, and we heard more "fores" in one round, than in weeks.
Fairways are wide enough, though. A creek/ditch runs through the course, and water comes into play on several holes, including an island green. All playable, but if water intimidates you, perhaps, not your course.
A few bunkers under construction in Sept.
So, not a course for the beginner, but probably quite pleasant enough for the novice during weekday afternoons, when the pace of play might not be pushed.
Last resort
Played this course for the first time and wasn't impressed. Course was not in great shape and bunkers were all flooded. Staff was very friendly and the guys I got paired up with were great! Only worth a HOT deal under $20 considering all of the other options.
Friendly staff and good course for the money.
Good course but it is under heavy repair. If it wasn't under repair all my ratings would go up.
No ranger, terrible pace of play, old men, course torn up
Were stuck behind 2 groups in their 70s and played very slow, no ranger to get them going. The course may be in some kind of construciton, but the bunkers were terrible with wasps or hornets all around about half of the greens. It was a terrible time to golf there....
Poor conditions
Sand traps with weeds and no sand, alot of areas under repair , sand traps removed and left weed infested, should have discounted rates based on conditions.
inwood 6-11-17
greens were in great shape rolling smoothly and a bit on the fast side. Most fairways in great shape except for a couple under repair for drainage work? A lot of the bunkers were under repair or unplayable. The sand is thin and inconsistent.
Great 2nd hole
The course is fun to play and generally in good shape. There were several areas under repair due to recent rain storms. I will continue to visit this course because it is a very good value and has some challenging holes.
This course was in bad shape.
The fairways were horrible. Some of the bunkers didn't have sand in them. There were fairways that had 4 or more areas cut out and not repaired. I won't be going there until they fix the fairways and sand bunkers.
Extremely Slow play on front nine, bunkers mud, no cart paths
Back 9 holes were wide open, no waiting, carts need upgrade or cleaning! Probably will not play again!
1st time at course
I have played the other two (2) Joliet courses and seemed to like this one the least. Favorite is Woodruff basically for the back nine. Wedgewood has some interesting holes also. Inwood was fine, but is a bit beat up compared to the other courses. Fairways, tee boxes, and greens were in good condition. Greens as is typical with this type of course had lots of unrepaired ball marks. Come on folks, fix the courses you play! I will come back and play Inwood again if the price is good.
Inwood is an excellent Municipal course
I've been driving by Inwood for 30 years several times a month (20 miles from my home). I have always wanted to play it, but just never got to it. Met a couple guys from the other direction with Inwood in the middle. I did look at the reviews and anything I could find on the internet about the course. I booked the foursome thru Golfnow. The reviews kinda scared me as far as how many times water touches the fairway. One of the foursome chewed me out that there was only 4 holes that didn't have water. I guess he is right if you spray the ball. If you hit it straight, the water doesn't come into play all too often. #2 you tee off from behind water, and your approach is to an island green. Just a cool hole! Very well kept. Since it's a municipal course, you can get some slow play, especially with walkers, but just keep your coll and play it out. I loved this course. Had a lot of bad reviews about the traps not having enough sand. Still true, and with the rain we had last night many of them had standing water. Didn't bother my game this time...
