Excellent greens but terrible everywhere else
Mixed emotions about the course. The greens were excellent and fine to putt on. However, the rest of the grass on the fairways, rough and tee boxes were in horrible shape. As it used to be a private course, was expecting better conditions, but it is a fun layout.
Some interesting holes on the course with a number of blind landing areas (which I don’t like). The par-3 fourth hole is at a challenging and tricky angle. Cool elevated tee boxes on the first and seventh holes allow for some big drives. Almost aced 13 and hit it to about two feet!
The driving range ends near the left of 17 green and on 18 fairway so practice balls were scattered everywhere. Pretty annoying and potentially a little dangerous.
Great pace of play as the course was busy but we never had to wait on any shot. The cart paths were in strange locations, too. Some just ended and restarted in random places.
Great Layout
This course is one of my favorites to play out in this area. If you can get on early it’s a great morning drive, staff have always been super friendly. I’ve taken a few different people here from hrs away and they all talk about coming back! Challenging course to say the least!
Love the layout!
What an amazing course! There are still some improvements than can be made. The layout is challenging. Lots of blind tee shots. Greens are true. The day we played the greens were very slow but were in good nick.
Horrible
Sucks..mean employees..no masks..carts not cleaned
Enjoyable yet challenging
Beautiful course with well maintained open fairways and greens. Pace was a little off, but also crowded on a holiday. Staff was remarkable and very reasonable on a booking issue. They even gave us some free buckets for the range. Will definitely be back again.
awesome
greens EX fringe Ex fairways really nice....pace of play EX
Worth the drive
45 minutes drive for me however so glad I made the trip. Challenging course but plays very fair, greens were rolling well. Some dead spots in fairways but it’s July in St Louis so not surprising. Would definitely add to my rotation
Good playing course.
Only complaint is golfers not fixing landing marks on greens.
Great Course!
The best course on this side of the Mississippi! Great condition!
A great course for both skilled and amateur players
I’ve played Lockhaven since I was a young kid. I learned how to play golf here. They have a great driving range and putting green. This course requires strategy and skill, but is also very fun for scramblers and amateurs. We’ve had a dry summer and the course sure could use a little rain, but other than that it’s in the same shape it was 30+ years ago.
Worth the trip
Lockhaven was a great course. People were friendly and the pace of play was excellent.
