Slow Play
A young couple was screwing around on the course and backed everything up! The single guy ahead of us walked off the course! There needs to be a golf assistant riding around the course to make sure the pace of play is kept up!
$27.00 for 9 holes of golf is too much for this course, especially if the pace of play is very slow!
Quick,
This executive length course is like the perfect "practice" course to keep you sharp. Rounds are quick with most of the holes being pretty short, but there is still some challenge. Not terribly hard, but there are some deep bunkers, hard doglegs and a bit of water in play. There are carts available but everyone seems to walk. The course is well kept with great greens, staff is friendly and polite (the starter had a slow moment and fished out a ball and came and found us to return it - I mean that is for sure above-and-beyond!) Decent value. Not cheap, but not expensive - especially if you're walking.
Good variety of holes.
Short, mid and long drives were available. The course was excellent. Definitely will be coming back.
Support Junior Golf
Glenview Prairie Club is an unusually high-quality nine-hole course, a par 31 featuring four par 4s and five par 3s. Unlike many 9-hole layouts, the Prairie Club requires strategy on each hole.. Both fairway and green side bunkers are deep and need to be avoided. There are two double pinned greens, so be careful you shoot the correct one with your rangefinder. Course conditions are generally good. One bad thing is that juniors receive a discount of only two dollars off. Using GolfNow, it cost me $46+ to play with a new 12-year-old golfer. This is the way to grow the game?
Good Exec 9 with fun and interesting layout
This wound up being a really nice treat to play a round with my 80 y.o. parents who now golf infrequently. Gas carts are available. The staff was very nice. They have 3 nets to hit into instead of a driving range, it certainly works to get your body looser. The layout is 5 par 3s, 4 par 4s. There is enough water to keep your attention on all but 3 holes, nice. There's risk and reward choices, too. A GPS device would be useful, especially given the shared greens for 1/8 and 2/5 and the nearby rough on 6 and 8. The course was very well-maintained. The greens were true and fast. The course seems to be a good course to share a leisurely round with groups with different generations, including the youth. Advanced golfers can try for multiple birdies or even eagles.
Unfriendly Staff
There was a severe thunderstorm that occurred late in the evening and lasted well over an hour. We were 3 holes in when the horn blew and exited the course. Upon discovering that the delay would be over an hour I asked the person in the club house if the course would extend a rain check and he responded as follows: "how many holes did you play". I stated "3 holes". He stated, "no, we don't offer rain checks".
Not sure why he would ask how many holes if that was going to be his response nor do I understand why a rain check was not extended based upon the severity of the storm and the poor condition the course will be in after the storm passed. Furthermore, his overall guest service was poor from his lack of a warm and friendly welcome to the negative manner in which he managed the customers after the storm began.
Great 9 hole course
This is my go-to course when playing with my 9-year-old. The course is very well maintained and one of the more interesting and challenging 9's around. There are about 3-4 holes where you can use a driver - the rest are iron/wedge range. It is not your typical boring executive 9. It has nice terrain, bunkers and water. There are only 2 shared greens, both are huge and not a problem if you are "sharing" with the other hole in play. Nice course for a nice price!
Awful
This course has 5/6 par 3. And they share the same holes with a bunch of other holes. No score card in kart. Called asked them 5 times to bring me on and never received one. It was flat out terrible. Not to mentioned drove 30 min to get there
Fun Little 9-Hole Track
Formally named the National “Natty” 9 in The Glen, The Prairie Club is a short 9 hole course good for beginning and higher handicap players. It is mainly comprised of shorter par 3’s and three par 4’s that one might be able to use a driver or long iron off the tee. It is usually well maintained and there are a few nice natural features on the course; tall grasses, water hazards, some very slight topography changes. Even though it is surrounded by housing and streets on two sides of the course, it doesn’t really feel like it, which is great.
It’s mainly a walking course because of its length and if you’re a better player you’ll probably be waiting on shots or for the green to clear on the par 3’s. I used to play here often with friends to have a good time after work or to work on my short irons. There are two holes with a shared green which can be confusing for some who are playing for the first time. It’s a fun little track if you live nearby. Lower handicap players won’t enjoy it as much, however.
Beautifully Maintained, Cute, Challenging, Nice Staff, & Good Value
This course is like a mini Harborside. Its only "executive" length, but hard and fun. Perfect greens and lovely fairways, hilly, lots sand and hazards. I loved it. Got paired up with an experienced golfer who felt it was really challenging as well. Staff in the pro shop was lovely (Welcome! Was it my first time there? Have fun! then when I came in it was all "How was it? Hope to see you soon!")
Cons:
The shared greens thing is a little weird and we were behind a slow group and there was no ranger or starter, so that was kind of annoying. The 9 holes at 7am on a short course with 2 decent golfers really took us way too long - close to 2 hours. This was probably mostly being unlucky to be behind a bad group, but still took something away from the round.
I bought a GolfNow deal that included a riding cart, but I was the only one with a cart out in the early morning. Literally everyone else was walking so I felt a little silly. It is somewhat long and hilly, so might be not as fun to walk if you're used to riding.
Nice 9 hole course
The course itself was in great shape. The only issue I had with it was the fact that since it was all par 3's and 1-2 par 4's there was always someone coming up on you on the tee box, which made the pace of play rushed.
Nice 9 hole
Course was in great condition and the clubhouse was real nice.......can't go wrong with a bar and ping pong table after you complete a round.
Rain can't stop them
While most courses were closed due to a heavy rain overnight, they were open and 90+% dry. Amazing. A puddle here and there in the sand traps but what the heck. The others were shut down. I take my 12 year old here. Friendly, convenient, affordable and the course is actually a rare find. Beautiful views and well groomed! A hidden gem for 9 holes
Good
It's a good course to play .
Well maintained course
The greens were beautiful. I definitely recommend this course if you are just trying to play a quick 9. Also if you want to practice your par 3's. The only downfall is the course is very short. All par 3's and 4's.
