Great greens
These greens were the fastest I''ve played in Chicagoland all 2014. Layout of the course is great but they lack a little bit on the maintenance of bunkers and cart paths. The bunkers have a lot of weeds growing in them and cart path concrete is chipping away and hasn't been redone in years. Other than that I paid $33 on a Saturday morning to ride. Can't beat that but a bit of a drive.
Greens were very nice
This in an old course, but the condition of the course was pretty good consider the harsh winter that we had. I thought the greens were very good and fast. I enjoyed playing the course. I would come back to play it again if it wasn't so far my house.
changes to back nine stink
I lived on the course 15 years ago. It was always in great shape very challenging. They made drastic changes to the back nine holes which are terrible. The new layout is disjointed and the greens are small and miss shaped. The facilities have never been updated since 1971 it's a complete time warp having to walk down stairs to use the bathroom in the scary locker room area.
With all that said if you can live without warming up due to not having a driving range and the changes to the back nine then $36 on the weekend with a cart is a value. It's rarely busy in fact on Sunday we almost had the entire place to ourselves.
Best bang for your buck
Have played there many times; great value; just enough challenge (who wants to beat their brains out, right?) Only wish the 14th green was a more receptive target. Well worth the drive.
Great course, great deal.
My foursome played this course a lot in the 1990s, came back this year, after a redesign of the back nine. The new No. 14 is ridiculously hard, but there are many, many fair and fun holes to make this place well worth the drive. No. 13 made the :Daily Herald's "coolest nine holes" in the suburbs. (I wrote the article.) the course was almost frighteningly underoccupied on a beautiful Saturday morning. It was great for us, but I was worry that golf popularity is seriously on the wane and great courses like Oak Club will have a tough go of it.
Oak Club of Genoa
Tough course to find but worth the drive and the cost. Very challenging if you are not in the middle of the fairway. Rough was a little long and tough to get the ball out clean.
