Excellent Value!
This course offers an excellent value. Links to its truest extent. Nice range, chipping and putting. Great staff and course plays very true and challenging.
Bring lots of balls if you aren’t hitting fairways and greens but that is why you play links.
Will play this course again soon
Great track!
Our weekly group got out and played Highland and were not disappointed as it was a well maintained track with great amenities. We will be putting it in our rotation for next season...
One of Chicago’s best
Play here 6-7 times a year since it opened
Always in great shape and a great test
Greens rolled true at a good pace
Fairways above average for this time of year
Definitely a top ten public course in our area
Must play

Great Experience
This course is a joy to play. The conditions are excellent, the staff is VERY friendly, and the pace was outstanding (4:00}. I highly recommend this venue.
Course was challenging but fair.
First time at this course and was pleasantly surprised as to how well maintained it was. Overall a great course for anyone. Will definitely go back.
Good not great
This is a good course. Some really nice holes with great vistas and some very average holes. The course was in average condition for a public track in late July. Lots of divots and the greens were pretty marked up with many units repaired ball marks. I thought the course was over-watered. It hasn't rained in at least a week and even at 4 o'clock in the afternoon my ball marks and divots were quite large. All in all it is was an enjoyable experience but I wouldn't put it on my short list of courses you can play in Chicago.
Horribly slow
5 and half hour round. Greens I terrible condition.
Thank you Highlands
First time out this year. Course is beautiful, greens best in the area
Golf Experience
Great golf course very nice layout well taken care of highly recommend this place
Highlands of Elgin Review
The course is great! Have to play with swirling winds so it can be tricky at times. Proper club selection and accuracy are a must!
One of the Most Challenging Courses
The thing that was most challenging about this course especially being the first time was not really knowing the layout and where the best landings spots were. I was put with some golfers that wanted to play the Black/Gold tees which in hindsight was not within my range for the black tees in some cases. I've heard that links courses can be a challenge being my first time. I felt the greens were in good shape, but several fairways were beat up. It became a frustrating round of golf losing so many balls as several holes slope away from you and your ball would run away. I will definitely play this course again, but will just play from the gold tees and be more strategic. It is a very picturesque course and strategic placements of bunkers and water makes this a challenging for all levels, but I do like the links style.
Loved the layout
My first time playing the Highlands. I've played multiple rounds at Bowes Creek and can say that this golf course is unique and challenging for many golfers due to forced carries, and in some spots taller fescue. I thought tee boxes and fairways were in great shape. Greens were inconsistent and showed signs of being overplayed(many unfixed ball marks). Pace of play wasn't great, but overall good experience and value.
