Blackberry Oaks Golf Club
About
Blackberry Oaks in Bristol is a public golf course that has been recognized as one of the Chicagoland area's best courses. The course design utilizes the natural beauty and hazards of the landscape including the native wetlands, grassy prairies, and towering stands of mature oaks. Blackberry Creek also meanders through the course. In addition to the natural hazards, a heavy smattering of strategically placed bunkers was also incorporated into the design. Although it can seem intimidating, the golf course isn't overly formidable if you can manage to stay out of the sand and water. The third and 12th holes are two par 4s that are memorable for their water hazards. The third has a lake along either side and the 12th has a green that is almost entirely surrounded by water.

Abismal Service Great Golf
Course staff is not very welcoming, pace of play is horrible considering they pair up walking and riding groups. Greens were well kept and course was fun to play.
Why?
Why oh why can’t courses share when they do the aeration?
Nice Find
Played this course for the first time. Very nice layout and conditions. Not a long course but very challenging for a player of any skill level. Will definitely play here again..
Bad conditions, sketchy layout
I’ve played here before and it was a bit torn up but today the conditions were abysmal.
The tee boxes are a complete mess, the greens are OK, but the sand traps are in poor condition and the rest of the course so ragged that nobody is repairing their ball marks or raking.
Foliage around the course is dying or in disrepair, apple trees dropping rotting apples smelling like vinegar.
The rough is thick nasty stuff just off the fairway, need to be mowed.
All this combined with the fact that this place has a weird layout just made for a poor experience, especially for 50$. Play elsewhere.
Find course if it’s not windy
Find course if it’s not windy… wide open Spaces makes it challenging if you hit the ball high.
Lots of tall grass with little forgiveness if you are outside the fairway..
Aside from that, the greens and fairways are very well-kept. The cheese could use a little repair. For the price, I would play this again but I need less windy day.
Fun, challenging, pretty course.
Course played pretty tough in the 20+ MPH winds, but it was still fun. Course is in excellent shape despite drought conditions. You must think a little off the tee, dont just bash away with driver.
Good Value for Hot Deal, minus the bunkers
Used to play here a lot years ago and hadn’t been back in a decade. Saw a hot deal at 3:20 for $42 including the cart and ridiculous GolfNow convenience fee and nostalgia convinced me to book it as I had some good memories from a while back. If I never landed in one of the sand bunkers I would have said it was a fair, not great price. Course was in decent condition but they need to roll their greens a lot more and turf quality needed some attention in fairways. Any ball not picked clean grabs a huge piece of turf and leaves a giant divot that is very difficult to repair. When you add bunkers that are all like hitting off of concrete it makes even $40 seem ridiculous. I mean just fill all of your bunkers in and seed then or make them grass bunkers if you don’t have the $ to keep real sand in them. I wouldn’t play here again for any price based on those bunkers conditions. Just abysmal.
