Nickol Knoll Golf Club
About
Ever since opening in the mid '90s, Arlington Heights Golf Club has been considered one of the best par-3 golf courses in Chicagoland. It is certainly one of the most unique with three holes that feature vertical-drop tee shots and two holes with uphill tee shots to the green. Although this nine-hole course is only 1,163 yards the large bentgrass tees and greens provide the feel of a full-length course. The layout has nearly 30 bunkers strategically placed throughout and water comes into play on two holes. From the elevated tees you can enjoy a panoramic view of the area, including stunning vistas of the Chicago skyline. Whether you're a beginner looking to get some practice or a scratch golfer who wants to get in a quick round, Arlington Heights Golf Club is a fun and challenging option.

Great hidden suburban gem!
This is one of my favorite nine hole courses in this area. The layout is fun and challenging, with holes that go uphill and downhill with the terrain. It looks and feels like a longer course and is well maintained.
The staff is always professional, friendly and helpful! As a park district course, it is well run, maintained and popular.
Last, but not least, is that this course has “ Peyton’s Hill,” where Walter Payton had a well-publicized, strenuous workout. The location is properly and respectfully marked for the great athlete and human being.
If you’re in this area, put Nickol Knoll on your must play list!
Nice Little Par 3
The greens were in pretty good shape. A challenging Par 3 in the sense of elevations and agles to the hole. Wanted to go around again. Will be great in the fall.
Great Little 9 Hole course
This course is great for some after work golf. I got there about 3pm and we had the place to ourselves. Course was in decent condition. Fixed a lot of divots as walked across the greens. Nice elevations. I will play here again.
Great Par 3 course, nice staff
Been here muiltiple times. Gret par 3 course and the staff is very nice and controls the tee box so it does not get to busy. Good practice course
Par 3 with a Great View
This is my 2nd favorite Par 3 course in the area, behind Twin Lakes. I love that it is built up on top of a hill because it offers a great view of the surrounding area. Bears fans will be excited to know that they’re playing on the same grounds where Walter Payton used to train. Fun fact aside, this course is a solid place to practice your short irons. All the holes are between 100 and 150 yards, but changes in elevation keep things interesting. I am always extremely pleased with the course conditions. Greens aren’t too fast, but they do roll true. If you need to work on your short game, save the $8 you would spend at the range and use it to play 9 at Nickol Knoll.
review on golf course
This course is good course to play w/o any financial
burden and easy to access. I 'd like to play again at this course and wil recommend to my friend.
I am happy to plat here.
Great Day For 9!
Well maintained 9 hole course. No water hazards, water to the side only on 1 hole. Great for beginners or to practice on your short game. Leave your drivers at home if your average drive is over 125 yards.
Great par 3
I liked the course but forgot it was a par 3 so I was disappointed when I arrived. Overall nice place.
Surprisingly great course
Best par 3 course I've ever played.
Good for short game
Great for working on short game
good value and good course for a quick round
Overall good managed course, good vlue. Popular with the local, it can get very busy on weekends
this course is great for first timers
I took my two friends who have never golfed before and the were able to do things nicley on this course
Quick and Fun
Course is short but is great for working on 120 yards and in. No rush, so playing multiple shots during each hole is possible. Great course for beginners and those who want to get some short game practice.
Better than the driving range if working on your short/midrange game
No hole is over 160 (except for two holes where they've added a fourth tee with standard grass, not the bent grass used in the other tee boxes), so I can basically take everything longer than a 7 iron out of my bag, except for the clubs i use to pitch and run more than 10 yards. So in nine holes a decent golfer with hit about 15 short iron shots and hopefully a few less putts.
This is also the site of "Walter Payton's Hill" although it's unclear where he did most of his uphill running. Nice view of the surrounding area, although not as impressive as Willow Hill's views -- of course, this landfill is only 1/4 or less than the size of Willow Hill.
Nice little course
Nice par 3 course with excellent greens and the most helpful and friendly pro shop staff I have ever experienced.
Quality Par 3
This course is a challenging par 3. Has several elevation changes that make the hole difficult to tuck in a shot. Pace of play is sometimes slow but the course does offer carts. Personally it's faster to walk. The greens are in pretty good condition considering a par 3 course, it would help if the armatures out there would fix their divots.
Best bang for the buck
Best ten dollars spent! Great short game workout. I would highly recommend this course.
Beautiful
Enjoy playing this course. Many hills and well maintained. Can't wait to go again.
