CHICAGO - Serving the community is the sign of true character.
Even though donating time and services arent always easy,
the sacrifices are without a doubt rewarding in the long run.
You see this theory with prominent athletes and celebrities as
well as various church and school groups.
The folks at Chicagos Nettle Creek Country Club are making
sure they have a positive impact in the community.
Besides providing golf, the club follows the philosophy of making
residents a top priority.
"We always give back to the community," the courses
head pro Scott Ammer said. "If you dont give back, then
they wont give to you."
This privately owned course has taken the areas youth under
its wing as they are host course to several state junior golf tournaments.
Its not everyday a youngster gets a crack at a top-notch golf
facility like Nettle Creek.
The course was ranked as a top-35 Chicagoland golf course recently
by a local golf publication and prides itself in having natural
grasses and a natural habitat frame.
"We have 18-holes of championship style links with beautiful
grass from tee to green," Ammer said. "We have large greens
which are very fair to the golfer."
These greens mostly help the average golfer, but they can also
be a thorn in ones side.
"The greens give you larger targets to shot at from the fairway,"
Ammer said. "But it is easy to three-putt if you a 100-foot
putt."
Ammer says the price and condition of his course makes it a must.
"Its the best conditioned in Chicago," he confidently
said. "An unbelievable value. We have people traveling from
the Gold Cost to play on the weekends. You can play 18 in under
four and ½ hours."
After 3:30 p.m. on the weekdays 18 holes with a cart is only $27
and on weekends and holidays with a cart is just $44.
