I lived in Beach Park when Thunderhawk Golf Club was opened and play the course a couple times a year when
we go home to visit family.
I think the author of the course review missed the point of the 12th and 14th holes in the design and would question if he played the course. the 12th is a very difficult driving hole because you have to play a draw off the tee to position yourself for your second shot. The 14th plays short but rewards position rather than length. A welcome relief from three par 5s on the back. One should alway's play the 18th from the black tees to its fullest distance of 600 yards, making it one of hardest holes in the area.

I defy anyone to find a better experience for $39. I've golfed in six Midwest states plus Las Vegas and Stone Creek is first on my list.

Reader,
Yep, you're correct about ThunderHawk. It is a marvelous golf course, although it was better when it first opened. Conditioning has been questionable at times.
Regarding your comments about the 12th and 14th holes - your correct on how they ought to be played, you are not correct on implying the reviewer hasn't played the course. That simply doesn't happen at travelgolf.com and it certainly will never happen with me. I must admit, it's been awhile since I last played the ThunderHawk, and I understand there have been ongoing tweaking of the design over the last year or so.
Finally - I agree playing the 18th from the back tees is worth the test...but please remember - playing from the CORRECT tees on any course is best for the golfer...and for everyone else. I wouldn't suggest the 600-yard hole for the 20 handicapper...Never.
