Timber Trails sold to developers planning to remove golf course
Timber Trails in LaGrange has 105-acres with nearly 1,000 trees on them. Many of the trees are old-growth oaks that have been standing for 300 years. The Illinois Audubon Society has designated the golf course an Audubon Sanctuary and has documented over 130 species of bird on the property. Fox, deer, coyote, and other animals are regularly seen on the golf course. But new developers are planning on removing the golf course.

The timing was bad, only months after completion of a $2.2 million project to give the course some shaping and character, recreate the bunkering and even redirect a creek that runs through the property to help ease ironically, flooding problems.

Midwest golfers will soon have a chance to see what it's like to try and hit the island green at TPC's Stadium Course at Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, Fla. Northern Bay, just north of Wisconsin Dells, will feature nine replica holes and nine "inspired-by" holes, scattered throughout the course, including the third hole at Pinehurst No. 2, Pebble Beach's No. 1, Augusta National's No. 16 and the 17th island hole at TPC Sawgrass.
