Klein Creek Golf Club sprawls across acres of rolling prairieland in the western suburbs of Chicago. Trees frame the layout's gentle doglegs and tall prairie grasses border the fairways. It is a golf course that offers both beautiful scenery and a challenging round. Several lakes also dot the landscape, coming into play on almost every hole. The abundant water hazards are often coupled with spacious, intricately designed bunkers that are also usually paired with wood retaining walls. Contoured mounding frames the fairways and greens as well. Klein Creek Golf Club's layout is not easy by any means but it's fair, offering room for error on even the tougher holes with wide fairways and generous landing areas. There are a variety of approach options for the greens as well, providing great risk-reward opportunities.

Klein Creek trys to give you the Country Club experience as a public golf course. They pull that off beautifully when it comes to the staff and the dinning experience. The golf course is a totallly different matter. For starters the bunkers are the worst bunkers in America. They are full of rocks and baked mud. To make matters worst those rocks end up all over the greens and really affect the putting. In some spots it is almost impossible to get all the rocks out of the way. The fairways and greens are very firm and can't hold a shot, even from the best players. The ball doesn't stop rolling until it ends up in a bunker, a hazard or out of bounds. Very unfair. Nobody ever fixes their ball marks and the fairways have tons of deep divots that aren't replaced or filled with sand. Every time I play there I can count on being in a divot 3 or 4 times. Also, the course is unplayable if the wind exceeds 15 MPH. Each hole becomes its own little wind tunnel because of the houses. When you play at Klein Creek be prepared for at least a 5 hour round. Pace of play is very slow due to difficult conditions. The best time to play there is after 3PM when nobody is there. Bottom Line Klein Creek is a great place to Eat and have a couple of drinks, but its a terrible place to play golf at.
