Great Little Unknown Course
Turnberry used to be a private country club. It fell on hard times and was recently purchased. They seem to be making minor improvements, but need to stick a lot more into the clubhouse and amenities.
Thankfully, the lack of spending on the amenities has not been reflected on the course, which they still do a decent job keeping up. I play this course quite often and very few know about it, and it's easy to get on.
It's nothing special but makes for a great morning out on a regular basis.
Had I wait an hour for a cart. No rakes in the traps
Bad course maintenance.
Disorganization
The staff did not have a list of people or tee times. People with later tee times were going out earlier. Also, I paid for a cart and they did not have any so we ended up walking and not playing all 18. Very poorly managed but the course was fun.
This could be a great course. It’s in bad shape from tee boxes to greens. No rakes for bunkers and they were in the worse condition of any bunkers I’ve seen. Club house is run down, pace of play is very slow. Save your money..
Great shape for a winter round.
Lots of very early unexpected golf weather. Course was ready we enjoyed the gift of golf in February! Golf Weather Gods please keep it coming!
Horrible experience on 2/25
Showed up 20 minutes before tee time and was greeted by 15 or so golfers waiting around for a cart. They were backed up at least a hour-hour and a half.. The lady inside was very nice and offered free beer on the house for everyone waiting around for the inconvenience however we tee’d off an hour past our time and couldn’t get 18 in. Also had to ride a three wheeled scooter instead of a cart. It was very slow and I had to peddle up hills and it died on me through 9 holes. It would’ve been fine if the price wasn’t $60 for a round that we couldn’t even finish.
Nice course
It's not fair to rate a Midwestern course's "conditions" in the middle of November. This is a nice course that we always enjoy playing. Check it out
Greens long and slow
Call carts are run down and the GPS does not work and they were tee markers out on the tee boxes
I am sorry you didn't enjoy your round. We try our best every day and some days we fail.
Turnberry on Nov 6th
Course was in great shape, especially for early November. Most of the carts were missing the GPS devices. We never got the ones on our two carts to operate.
Turn Berry is a quality course
It's a difficult course but not to the point where it's unplayable by a double-digit handicap player. Greens are tough, but in good shape. Since it is a wooded course, fall can make it tough to find the ball off the fairway. I love playing here overall.
Turnberry
Great design. Tee boxes for all skill levels. Beautiful tree lined fairways.
Course put out foursomes on the bag nine in front of foursomes coming off of 9. Many foursome that started on the 1st hole unable to finish 18 because of the backup on the turn
OK course
Played on a beautiful day in late October. To be expected the greens had been recently aerated and top dressed so they were pretty slow. A lot of leaves on the ground made it hard to find your ball. We were a twosome playing behind a threesome and we waited for just about every shot for the first 16 holes. Still it wasn't bad until the 17th when I couldn't find my tee shot in the leaves. After giving up looking, I dropped a ball and was ready to hit when a member of the staff stopped by us and asked what was the holdup? I told him I had trouble finding my ball in the leaves and he starts berating me out for taking so long. After waiting on nearly every shot for 16 holes he does that to me? I am not a slow player and it upset me the way he approached me.
I am sorry about the inconvenience caused to you. The ranger is just doing his job telling just about everyone to keep up with the pace. Nothing personal.
My apologies for the delay you experienced. We had snow and frost on the ground that delayed all golfers Sunday morning by two hours. Cancellations and rain checks were available. You can still get a raincheck for holes not played.
