Lincolnshire Country Club

I played in a members / guest event at Lincolnshire Country Club on October 6, 2023. This was my first time playing this course and I have to say I was impressed. One of the interesting things about this course is that you go out on number one and don’t come back to the clubhouse until the eighteen hole. You also have to cross two roads twice; that separates the course. The course was well maintained with some small, tough greens. The course also has a mix of water hazards, creeks, marshes, and elevation changes that come into play, but overall the course was very fair. The fifth hole, which I assume is the signature hole for the course, is a risk / reward hole that is diagonally separated by a creek, in addition of not being able to see the green from the tee area. It’s a very interesting hole that would need to be played a few times to determine the best way to play it. You can definitely see some similarities of this Tom Bendelow design between this course and the South Course at Olympia Fields Country Club. The staff and members were very accommodating.

Unique Layout

This old Tom Bendelow course allows non-member play on select Mondays during the year. Course has an interesting layout that crosses two roads twice during the round.

The layout is over varied terrain that utilized creeks,
Swampy areas and hilly terrain to create many memorable golf holes. The course has been renovated by Dick Nugent and some his work seems out of character either the original course.

Definitely worth the effort to play on a member for a day Monday.

A hidden gem!

I played as a guest during the April 2016 Open House and I will become a member. The layout is challenging but fair and the greens can be tricky. The course is not the longest around, but the low handicap holes offer quite a challenge. I will be joining the clubs as the membership is really a bargain for the quality of the facility.
